Fast casual? More like casual fast. I've come through at different times throughout the day and, usually to get a coffee and empenada, but have never gotten my stuff in under 20 minutes. Food is good, people are friendly, but they're obviously understaffed. Order ahead if you have to be anywhere.
Great coffee and relaxed ambiance. The servers were very kind and we look forward to coming again soon!
phenomenal experience phenomenal service phenomenal coffee only thing I wasn't overly found of was the food I got.. which was the empandas but I definitely will be back when I visit the city
We went in over the weekend and it was quite busy. The young lady at the counter was great. She was so kind and helpful. We ordered a few coffee’s, pastries and a couple breakfast items. The cafe con leche was yummy. My girls loved the guava and cheese and my husband loved his breakfast sandwich. The wait for the breakfast sandwich, kids pastelitos and chicken croquettes was very long BUT thankfully we weren’t in any rush and I could tell they were working hard to get all the orders out and let us know they were working on it. We would definitely come back!
Super charming Cuban cafe with delicious food and fantastic drinks! This Dupont Circle mainstay features a large menu of casual breakfast and lunch fare, including toasts, baked goodies, sandwiches, and grain bowls / salads. While I've been impressed by everything on their menu, my go-to's are the Salmon Citrus Salad and their Santiago Bowl with romesco cauliflower and mushrooms. Both are satisfying and delicious meals, but are also light enough to enjoy for lunch without feeling bogged down for the rest of the day. They're also well-known for their Cuban sandwich, as well as an equally delicious and flavorful Veggie Cuban. If you're just looking for something to sip on, they also have an extensive drink menu featuring Cuban twists on coffee / tea, smoothies, and cocktails. One of my favorites is their Good for You Mojito, a super refreshing green juice that features mint, spinach, lime juice, and coconut water. Beyond the food and gorgeous, vibrant Cuban decor, the entire staff is also super friendly and help create a welcoming, delightful space. Whether you're just looking for amazing Cuban food or you'd like to settle in with a long book or get some work done with a steaming cup of joe, definitely swing by Colada Shop -- you're in for a treat!
Clean try the chicken empanadas
Breakfast empanadas are delicious
Very overpriced and totally inauthentic "Cuban" place. For no reason on Earth should a colada be more than $2 max and also missing sugar. This sums up the Washington DC restaurant scene in a nutshell
