Coffee & Stays at Cartmel Square

I wrote a negative review of this place and received a very aggressive response by the owner which said i was a rude customer. I was not rude but just couldnt understand how they could not cook scrambled egg on toast because i arrived earlier then booked. I simply walked out. Their response said i was having a ‘ complimentary’ breakfast which is totally incorrect as the hotel i came from have a deal with this cafe. Their response does not address their poor food quality ( inedible sausage ) portion size ( one slice of bacon) or rude waitress. Avoid this place there are far better ones nearby. Food & drinks: The food is very average.

After receiving a lovely Christmas gift for a night away here, we have just thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are a great size, extremely cosy, beautifully decorated and immaculate and well equipped with a little sweet treat and a Nespresso machine. The bathroom was so fresh and clean also and well equipped with towels and lovely fragrances and products. The rooms have lovely views over the quaint square and parking is available very close by. The cooked breakfast and granola was superb and is a lovely cosy area for guests and public to enjoy. All the staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful and service was always with a smile. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back ☺️

This was our second stay at Cartmel Square and we will definitely be returning for more. The rooms are large, comfortable, tastefully furnished, very comfortable and all have views out over the square. Rachel and her team are so very helpful and extremely welcoming. The breakfasts are superb as is the coffee shop - we always call in when in the area. The location is great for exploring and enjoying the South Lakes area and its such a beautiful village for a relaxing stay if you are feeling less energetic. Whether its for a stay or just a coffee stop I can highly recommend Cartmel Square.

Great, cosy, welcoming place for superior coffee and mince pies. But to get 5stars they'd have to give me proper hunks of brown sugar in a bowl, with tongs , not those awful Silver Spoon sachets. C'mon folks, you're better than that!

Absolutely incredible service from first email checking availability ( was visiting a cousin who lives in Cartmel) to check out. 100% service. Rachel and her team go above and beyond. Our room was gorgeous, and very clean and warm. Lovely choice of (included) breakfast. You will not be disappointed staying here Rooms: Beautiful. Cozy. Warm Safety: Felt extremely safe here Food & drinks: Breakfast 10/10 Drinks in bar fridge if desired. Payable per usage. Great pubs in village

We had 2 nights in our very comfortable room and 2 delicious breakfasts. The location was perfect in the hub of this charming village.
