My son loves Middle Eastern food, so I looked up popular restaurants in Moncton and Casa K-Bab had excellent reviews and we decided to give it a go. Wow, those reviews are spot on! Just to try out the menu, we ordered the falafel plate and the chicken shawarma plate and a baklava sampler. We sat at the table and watched the owner making up our take out boxes, and I gotta say, he just kept piling on more and more food - each plate easily feeds two people, and we are not dainty eaters. But what’s more important is that the food was amazingly delicious. Every component was excellent separately and together, the meals were incredible. Personally, I have never liked a falafel in my entire life but now, I am a true believer - how they made these so crispy on the outside and so delicious and fluffy on the inside is a beautiful mystery. The salad with cucumber, oh so minty and tangy, we all fought over that. My husband, who doesn’t like cucumbers, said, “If we had cucumbers that tasted like this, I’d eat them all the time.” The hummus, smooth like silk on those beautiful soft pitas, what a treat. For me, the one component that I regret I will probably never know how to make anywhere near as good, was the rice - beautiful spiced and cumin scented rice - it’s the rice I dream of being able to make in my home and have never been able to achieve. People may think, oh it’s rice, big deal. But no, this is just perfect rice. Both meals were perfection. The baklava, well, I managed to get a half bite of one piece before it disappeared and it was so delicate and delicious too. We’ve agreed to go back here again, soon and often. The cherry on top of this wonderful experience was the owner who was very friendly and patient with us. OUR NEW FAVOURITE!
The entire time we were eating our meals my fiance kept saying WOWWW mmmmm this is amazing this is so good. All he talked about our entire meal the food is so delicious and authentic, the portions are extremely generous, and the service was excellent! The combo kebabs are so large could split between a couple or have plenty for lunch the next day. We can’t wait to get another meal from here!
