We went to Capital Ale House last night for our friends retirement dinner. My boyfriend and I had the perogies, french dip, beet salad, and the caprese chicken. The perogies were good but the presentation definitely is different from what I remember from previous visits. The French dip was AMAZING and something I would absolutely order again. The chicken was very tasty but the polenta cake was flavorless and cold. He loved his beet salad with the walnut vinaigrette. It was bright and earthy. Since there were a lot of people I was able to see a few of their other menu items. The mussels were fresh and delicious. The club sandwhich looked AWESOME and it was huge!! It made me want to order one to go . The loaded fries were sent back because they were soggy and just didn’t taste very good. They traded them in for plain wings and devoured them very quickly… so I’m assuming they were delicious. Also Brian the bartender was awesome!
A lot went wrong during our visit, so maybe a different combination of events will leave you with a better experience. It's a shame, the place looks really nice. Our waitress was very inattentive; we spent a lot of time waiting around for different reasons and had to ask for silverware from someone else after our food was dropped off at the table. One person waited for their food for 30 mins after everyone else's, another waited around for a can of cider, then got an eye roll from the hostess when asking for a glass with it. The wiener schnitzel was good, but the chicken pesto flat bread pizza was pretty undercooked and had barely any pesto. A large chunk of my veggie burger was somehow missing, and the "onions" were 2 tiny pinky ring sized onions. The manager removed the charge for the pizza and fries (since they arrived so incredibly late) to try and make up for the experience when they were pressed.
Kelsi and Sholie were a great team and kept our drinks full, etc.
Kelsi and Sholie provided great service.
Really cool place with great food. A little expensive but everything is now days.
Enjoyed a nice meal here on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Our server, Abbi S, was attentive and made sure our dining experience was great! Food: Dry-rub wings, Belgian fries, flatbread pizza, soda, draft beer.
The server was amazing. Never had to wait for drink refills.
