Iconic. Just had the coffee. Chicory so so unique. Try it if you can.
Get your cash before you head over to get an experience at Cafe Du Monde. Ive been waiting for beignets since I booked my trip and got them so warm and loaded with powdered sugar. They have outdoor seating or you can do it like I did and go to the takeout line. They'll help you out as soon as you can get there. Enjoy some coffee with your beignet or take it with you to enjoy by the river!
Tasty beignets but serve only with powder sugar.
The beignets were hot and delicious! We had great luck with hitting this at slow times. No wait when we first stopped around 730am and another time in the the afternoon around 4pm was a small line. We passed by other times and the line was wrapped around the building and onto the front sidewalk.
Touristy but worth a trip. The beignets are fresh, coffee is hot and service is quick.
I can say I’ve done the thing at Cafe DiMpnde. The beignets are good, but Ilhonestly I was really disappointed. Our beignets hadn’t puffed like one air filled pillow - they had air bubbles here and there. My guess is the oil wasn’t hot enough . We really would have liked to get more coffee and food but the atmosphere is so chaotic, staff is short making service less than ideal. The Chicory coffee is historic for a reason, the cafe au lait was so delicious with the sweet dough covered with powdered sugar.in my experience the beignets at The Streetcar Cafe were higher quality in a more relaxed atmosphere. The history wasn’t worth the hype. Wheelchair accessibility: Getting in and out would be very challenging as most areas in and near the French Quarter. Finding a table around the edge seems like it would be the most comfortable option. I am in and out of a wheelchair due to Parkinson’s disease so I’m always hyper-aware of “What if I was in my chair today?”
