Bush Hill Park

Nice enough pub - bar staff are really lovely! What brings this place right down is the miserable old manager/owner who perches at the bar, loudly speaking down to his staff, never smiles and lacks the ability to engage with customers. God forbid you make a joke around him at the bar, he stares at you to purposely make you feel uncomfortable - bizarre behaviour from him.

Great Pub

The bar staff are very good and you can get served very quickly (hence the 4 stars) but if you try and engage with them the landlord intervenes and chastises both them and the customer! Appreciate that he wants the service to be efficient but I was the only one at the bar on this occasion. Am susprised he has anyone working for him given how awful he is to them. Am assuming it is a free house and not brewery owned otherwise those staff should put in a formal complaint as there must be some employment law to protect them from the abuse he dishes out. A lot of other posts on here about similar experiences with the landlord so these aren't isolated incidents. This has the potential to be a really good pub but not whilst that landlord is at the helm. I doubt he would listen but someone needs to tell him that pubs thrive on customer service and alcohol is not the only reason people go to pubs. If he is not the owner, then the owner should take heed! I would rather not go there any more but it's convenient for the train on match days. Not going to give him more custom than absolutely necessary. There is no food offering unless you want crisps or peanuts so no rating provided.

Lacklustre..hostile..racist.bordering aggressive..and that's the owner..!!..if you want a good time..good beer and a warm atmosphere to enjoy your beverage avoid Bush Hill Park Tavern..at least until it changes ownership..!!!
