I arrived in Bedford after an 11 hour flight and a 90 minute drive from London to a building site at my brother’s with contractors a-renovating and brickies a-laying. A little jet lagged, a little tired, a lot hungry. Being awesome hosts, Sean and Al took me to their local coffee and brekkie café in Brickhill road. What started as a quiet spot, quickly livened up with all the regulars popping in for a catchup and to spill some tea. A warm and inviting place especially when the weather is gloomy and wet with colorful walls, and solid wooden tables situated in the old post office. We all tucked into a tasty hot breakfast served efficiently. My bro Sean is a bit of a coffee aficionado and his order has to be “just so”. Our barista was more than open to try it out and very patient in making sure he got the ristretto shots “just right”. With a lovely floral nose and sweet taste on our coffee we also got a tip on where to find some good beans from a local roastery. As for moi, I’m a tea pot and the strong refreshing EBT went down a treat By the way, If you need a birthday card or some gift wrapping in a hurry pop right in and look through the quite extensive selection. Parking: Accessible and plentiful parking In front and back of building. Most visitors walk to the café. Kid-friendliness: A soft play area for the littlelies where you can keep en eye on them whilst they play and make new friends.
Great little stop-off for a spot of lunch or a breakfast, super quick preparation time too... I'll be back
Love this coffee shop so friendly. Food is excellent and very fresh. Thankyou for delivering the perfect place to feel at home with delicious food. Wheelchair accessibility: Mum mum is now wheelchair bound and I found is easy to access.
Took my son in the other day. The jacket potato I had was too hard for my liking, but ok. I decided to take half home for my other son (it was already in a takeaway box). My boy was half way through his sausage roll when he decided to go look at the magazines. He called me over to look at one. I was away from the table (but still in the cafe) for less than a minute and our food and FULL drinks were cleared. We asked where it was and they still had our drinks, but said the food had been binned. They said that there was no food left in the containers. (I'd have a little more respect for them if they just owned up and not tried to make an excuse with a lie). They told me they'd go sort it out and were out back for ages, just to come back and simply confirm that our food was binned. I was then offered one "complimentary" drink. I said "no thank you" and left. I'm not a confrontational person. The time I was there 2 staff members were on their phones a lot. They were all tripping over each other. And we didn't see one smile. The atmosphere was terrible and gave me anxiety! Safe to say, I will not be returning. Hopefully others' experience will be better than mine. As the cafe is a great idea for our little hill.
The food at the coffee post is to a decent standard with sizzling sausages and super duper scrambled eggs, however it is overpriced £6 for a sausage sandwich is daylight robbery and the cream on my hot chocolate tasted too good to be true and extra thick . Nice but overpriced.
The café is the priority and the post office the after though. If you are in a hurry go at times where the café is empty.
