We are long time fans of Big Mike’s BBQ Cary. We live close by and regularly walk there for dinner or lunch. Over the years, the menu has changed bit by bit, but the latest rendition is drastic. They took many favorites off - bbq tacos, mac & cheese, big cheesy,, etc. with much less variety to choose from. Not only that, but the prices have increased considerably ($19 for 1/2 chicken, $28 for 2 meat platter, $31 for 3 meat platter) while portions have shrunk according to last night’s experience. I regularly order the 1/2 chicken that is typically plump and juicy, but last night was dry and shriveled. It was a disappointment compared to the norm from the menu to the food, service was still very good. It was also quite empty in the restaurant for a beautiful Thursday evening. We hope that this limited menu and food quality is a temporary change while the Pittsboro site gets started so that the Cary site does not suffer.

This place has been my favorite BBQ place for years. We always take friends and family from out of town. The staff is always great and until recently with the menu changes the food was the best. How does a BBQ place not have a chopped BBQ plate?! Also taking away the Mac and cheese is disappointing. Lastly the burnt ends, it was both exciting and top notch on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the bark was crispy and made them. Now having them everyday in the sauce it’s a totally different flavor. Overall disappointed in the changes, I understand things evolve but don’t lose the quality in the process.

I've been eating here since 2016 and once they got the loaded fries that's all I ever ordered and now they have the brisket chili fries which I'm excited to try. Definitely recommend.

Changed the whole menu but the cant change a dang toilet seat. Hopefully the pork has improved

Shenandoah was our server. We arrived the night before a large reserved party. She still gave us her undivided attention. The food and service were amazing as always Parking: Lot free in and out

I moved to NC in 2020. I was referred to Big Mike's for BBQ. It did not disappoint. Still the best brisket and jalepeno sausage in the state. However after not eating there for a few months the menu has changed. How can you have BBQ with out Mac and Cheese or fried Okra!!? Where did the 2 meat and 3 meat platters go? I loved the 3 meat meal because I can't make a decision because it was so good. Still the best BBQ in NC but for the love of God at least bring back the Mac and Cheese and Fried Okra!!!!! The service was great and they still have a good beer selection on tap. I WANT MY MAC&CHEESE and FRIED OKRA back!!!!!

I've been going here for a few years and it's still my favorite BBQ in the area. And a fun place to try out a local beer. It's true that the menu has recently changed but I like that it's now very simple, so they can continue to focus on doing a few things very well. Brisket is amazing. The burnt ends is kinda like the wagyu (e.g. fatty and juicy) version of brisket, definitely tasty and seems to quickly sell out, so get there earlier if you want to try it. I do kinda miss the multi-meat combo plates from the old menu, but to be honest it was way too much food anyhow. I also miss the unique gouda mac 'n cheese - not my favorite style but the cheese was really good.

Have to change my review here as they’ve changed their menu and it’s not good. $16 for half of a sandwich no fries or drink included? I left hungry, thirsty and completely unsatisfied. Won’t ever be returning again and it’s a shame because my first visit with my colleagues was amazing and when we went back we are all very disappointed!
