Barbette? More like setting-a-high-Barbette lol - on a serious note everything about the place is
Salt and pepper not needed. The place was amazing! Food was full of flavor! The host were amazing! Definitely recommend. Would give more stars
Delicious!
Didn't know this even existed! Was so much fun, nice atmosphere. Affordable too!
Great neighborhood bistro feel. Nice place for a first date or to recover after a bad date. Lovely staff.
The decorations and vibe was very promising when we arrive today for brunch. Our server took our order and we were served. My brother-in-law appeared to get what he expected. My entree (a buckwheat crepe & poached egg & cheese & ham creation) was bland, but acceptable enough. It was what my spouse was served that perplexed me. It was supposed to be croque monsieur. As a Ontario resident, I know that is supposed to be a hyper-cheesy grilled cheese & ham sandwich… where the outer bread is topped with more melted cheese. My spouse got a grilled ham & cheese sandwich — and that was it. Heck, after my spouse spoke to the server… ate 1/2 of it… and pushed it to the side, I mooched it off her plate and opened ‘er up. It was a grilled cheese and ham sandwich. NOT what was advertised. Pity. Management: please adjust your menu description. “Grilled cheese sandwich”… honest.
We are visiting Minneapolis from Canada, and I chose this restaurant specifically because the menu lists croque monsieur, which is one of my favourite sandwiches. I’ve had it in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto but because it’s rich, I only eat it in restaurants. To my utter surprise, what I got was not a croque monsieur, but a straight grilled ham and cheese sandwich with a little dribble of mornay across it. When I questioned our waiter about it, he told me he “doesn’t even know what it looks like” so he couldn’t say if it was right or wrong. As my brother stated later, when our waiter asked us if we had any questions he could answer for us, the answer to that would be “clearly not”. My other complaint would be that while the salad was supposed to come dressed, mine was just lettuce. Just plain lettuce. Not that I don’t like lettuce, but still. Really?
I ate half the sandwich and gave up on the other half. Not even worth taking it to go.
So this was meh. Just meh. Disappointing to say the least.
Thank you, Sonya, for a great Birthday evening!
Had lunch here with my brother and it was very good. The walls are covered with very interesting local artist paintings. Nice.
A perennial favorite date night spot. Love the wine list and the food. Always start with oysters and bubbles and go from there. Niscoise salad is my fave for lunch. Everything on the dinner menu is outstanding. The vibe is one of a place that’s entirely comfortable in its own skin, and the music/lighting ambiance is perfect. A Minneapolis treasure for sure.
