A friend & i were in the mood for Spanish food & Atxondo will now be a regular stop. We had manchego, which comes with toast, dried cherries & honey. Also sautéed cremini mushrooms with a poached egg on top, chicken croquetas (amazing), Spanish olives, Gambas al ajillo- which my friend raved about. Manchego burgers with freshly made chips. Finished with churros. My friend had a red wine while i opted for the hot toddy, which was perfect on a cold, rainy day. Everything was delicious & beautifully presented. Parking was plentiful, but i imagine this will change once the construction across the street is complete. Go soon before it's "discovered."
We had an incredible lunch here and the drinks were delicious. Great service ! Highly recommend!
Atxondo is a fantastic spot for dinner with friends, especially if you're into tapas. The shrimp is a must-try, along with their selection of unique dishes perfect for sharing. I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in the area. Despite it being busy on my Friday night visit, they managed to get us a table quickly, which was greatly appreciated.
It is great to see a restaurant with such great quality, food and service near Petworth! Very happy to be near such a great to dine! Vegetarian options: Vegetables were prepared very well. We especially like the bok choy.
As far as Spanish tapas goes, this is a very middle of the road and unmemorable spot. Both the food and cocktails were pedestrian, and service while fine was equally unremarkable. We tried a charcuterie plate, kale salad, Spanish tortilla, grilled octopus, croquettes, meatballs, crispy potatoes and ribeye. Everything was sub par with the exception of the patatas bravas. Ribeye was particularly terrible, tough and poorly grilled. I would pass, much better options in DC for tapas.
I highly recommend this place. Excellent customer service, amazing food!! . I enjoyed the risotto, couliflower, and pan con tomate. Thank you
