I went to buy a meal takeaway, they asked me about my ethnicity & they asked me about my religion. (they weren't convinced about my ethnicity) Then the man at the reception charged me extra for the food because it is hot (spicy), apparently they charge extra for "hot" food. Will never go back there again. They ruined my day.

I visited this restaurant last Saturday and honestly exceeded my expectations in a positive manner! Being centred in the heart of Newark-on-Trent, I was honestly expecting nothing more than an average Indian-themed restaurant on a rainy evening. However, the ambient atmosphere and amazing staff proved otherwise. First and foremost, the food was a traditional delicacy, I could tell that it was made in the traditional way (which is its unique selling point), and the quality was good overall. The food arrived in around 20-30 minutes so there really wasn't a long wait (however there weren't many people at that time since we came quire early so that may be a contributing factor). I'd personally recommend their meal for two, since it provides you with a variety of Indian dishes (Along with the naans!) for a relatively low price. The staff were polite and attended to our needs, which is the basis of a good-quality restaurant. However, one of the core areas for improvement would be to improve the toiletry facilities, for it appears to be quite run down and un-catered for in certain aspects. In addition, the staff were relatively stressed and tired (with it being Saturday night), which may have resulted in a slightly burnt naan, and due to there not being any others present towards the start of our dining, the restaurant was relatively desolate and quiet, resulting in all of the staff staring at our table as we communicated. However, in conclusion, this is certainly the best Indian restaurant in Newark-on-Trent and I'd highly reccomend dining there if you haven't already! Would certainly reccomend to my friends! 4/5

We visited on Sat 27th Jan at 6pm. Restaurant soon came very busy and noisy, but good to see a restaurant busy at this time of year. Our food tasted good, but service was awful and soo slow. After 90mins we'd only eaten starters and still hadn't received our main courses. Bill came to £120 (no service charge included) so asked for 10% discount due to very slow service. We expected some delays due to it being busy, but not this long. Probably stick to takeaway next time as food is good.

Myself & my wife both agree we found the food very bland on a whole. One of the dishes (lamb passanda) we tried and it was awful, we didn’t eat it. Something I didn’t like was when we attended the restaurant was literally empty and we were the first to be seated, as the other customers arrived they were literally seated right next to us and as there was no background music at the time it was a little awkward. We’ve eaten in every Indian around the area and this is by far the worst experience we’ve had. We won’t return

Was originally a walk in, understand this is a struggle at best. Agreed a time to return time and have a table. We were told to wait when we returned, then another couple walked in after us and seated straight away which was also a walk in, this at the point was beyond a joke. The gent behind the bar has limited customer service skills, limited is actually a compliment! Always enjoyed food here, but this leaves a sour taste.

Went to this restaurant at the weekend and all though it was very busy( which is always a good sign) they fitted us in with pleasure. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. The menu had a great variety and good value for money. Definitely recommend as a great Indian restaurant ! Vegetarian options: Good variety of options Dietary restrictions: Caters for veg / non veg. I don’t eat gluten or dairy and this wasn’t an issue. Kid-friendliness: I could imagine bringing my children here

Wow, visiting Newark for a concert, tried a few other restaurants that were fully booked, hit upon Asha, and hit the jackpot. The food was excellent. Even the poppadoms were mouthwatering. My wife had the vegetarian thali (see picture) she is not usually one to be impressed by food (of any description) but she hasn't shut up about it all night. I had the mixed balti (no prawns for me) the chicken and lamb were superb. Will definitely be back.
