My boss brought me and a colleague here to celebrate a great achievement at work. I had the spiced mussel flat bread for starters and the baked cod loin for mains. I was too full for pudding. The restaurant is beautiful. The staff are attentive but not overbearing and the food was delicious! Deffo will come again.
Our first visit to Crafthouse, came for afternoon tea which was an experience gift. I must say food was lovely, but had to knock it down one star because my partner was allergic to egg mayonnaise so they substituted him 2 plain cheese sandwiches instead - it would have been nice if he could have chosen the substitute as it was very basic and they still gave me the other egg mayonnaise sandwich. Portions a little small too. The service was not good. We felt the staff treated those ordering afternoon tea differently to those who were ordering off the menu. We were put into corner of the room with everyone else having afternoon tea and basically forgotten about. Our hot drinks arrived after our food and we had to keep asking for further drinks, because staff didn't pay any attention otherwise. Its a shame about the staff, as the food was lovely and place was great too, I loved all the plants and it felt like a little oasis above Trinity. The bill came and they had the cheek to charge £8 extra for service - which left a sour taste in our mouth considering they hadn't paid us any attention and the service was so slow. Unfortunately we won't be coming again.
We came on a Monday for our anniversary, and Eve was fantastic. She wished us a happy anniversary as soon as we sat down, and then was very knowledgeable about all the food and drinks and answered all of the questions we had, and recommended us a brilliant wine. She was then very attentive and filled up our wine and water without having to ask, and always stopped to talk to us to ask us about ourselves and was incredibly friendly. The food was outstanding (we had the chicken and the rump steak with the triple cooked chips and creamy mash on the side) and the restaurant itself was beautiful, and we had a fantastic time. We even got a delicious dessert with "Happy Anniversary" on the plate which was a lovely touch. As two managers in hospitality and knowing how difficult it is to get good staff, Eve exceeded our expectations and was a credit to the restaurant and to herself, and made our anniversary even more special.
They didn’t have half of the things on the menu. When I did order what they had, they came back to say they didn’t have those. Was a farce.
I Iiked it here, and I will be coming again.
