Angel Hotel Cardiff

Good location comfortable beds only downside was the noise from the road but that's nothing they can do about it. Below average breakfast

The hotel's location is excellent, just a short walk from all the places you'll likely want to visit. The reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, even after one lady was on a shift of over 15 hours. While the grand staircase at the hotel's entrance may have looked impressive in its prime, the overall appearance of the hotel is a bit tired and could benefit from an update. Our deluxe twin room was spacious enough, though it's unclear what made it deluxe, as it simply had two differently sized beds. The hotel's prime location meant that it was sandwiched between two busy main roads, resulting in considerable noise. This was especially noticeable at 6 am when staff and bin men were emptying rubbish and recycling. While some may be able to sleep through the noise better than others, personally, I found it difficult to get a good night's sleep.

Rooms: Spacious Decor is very dated Food & drinks: Breakfast is amazing Hot food is amazing - includes black pudding as well as everything you'd expect Cold food selection is great - including a variety of fruits and cereals (melon, pineapple, yoghurt, granola, boiled eggs, cheese salami, pastries)

Pros: - The hotel décor looked fantastic, we loved the huge staircase in the middle leading to the rooms - The location is fantastic being right in the centre and next-door to the castle! - Staff were very friendly and helpful - Good breakfast selection - We booked the premium/deluxe double room with the fake fireplace, it was huge for the price compared to Premier Inn, etc - The almost floor to ceiling windows looked amazing Cons: - We'd book via their website which let us choose our 'planned arrival time' of 1 pm, but upon check-in we were told our room wouldn't be ready till 3 pm (this is usually the case of course) and the staff didn't know the arrival time option existed - Our room was absolutely boiling the entire time even with the radiator completely off and windows open - The toilet roll holder wasn't fixed to the wall properly, resulting in it rotating to the floor and the roll falling off when you'd try to use it - There were no plugs either side the bed, only above the sofa across the room and behind the desk, which isn't a huge problem but not ideal compared to every other hotel - The TV when sat in bed was mounted to the right side wall, you can swivel it out but it's not great for your neck - There was some miscommunication with our check-out time, they allow you to use the car park till 2 pm which made us think that was our check-out when it was actually 11 am

Room was great and location was ideal for our visits to Cardiff castle directly across the road and castell coch the following day ....food and service was also great esp when they were catering to food allergies

Hotel antigo, com recepção linda e quartos espaçosos, mas precisando de maior cuidado e atenção com relação à pintura, papel de parede etc. O nosso quarto ficava de frente para o Castelo da cidade, mas estava frio e quando pedimos para ajustar a temperatura, disseram que estava em manutenção e não podiam fazer nada. Isso foi em janeiro, em pleno inverno europeu! No quarto tinha chaleira, saquinhos de chás/café para uso. O hotel tem elevador e um bar. O hotel é muito bem localizado, perto do terminal de ônibus que chega de Londres e outras localidades e ao lado do estádio de futebol e quase em frente ao Castelo de Cardiff. Pessoal da recepção muito gentil. Café da manhã simples e com vista para o castelo. Apesar de ter vários transportes coletivos que passam na frente, que é uma comodidade, a cidade é pequena e é possível se locomover a pé para todos os lados.

Had an excellent Saturday night stay. Fantastic deal for the room with an excellent breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Fantastic location too.

We hired a function room for a evening celebratory meal. It was lovely! The food was amazing, tasty, quick service and very hot. Organising the evening was really easy with the help of Eve. Everyone had a lovely evening, would definitely recommend for anyone else!
