Traditional design (from 1830), elegant (check out the Picasso near the main door). Very good food (claim to have the best paella in town). Helpful waiters who can guide you on what to eat. A wonderful way to celebrate the end of a visit to Barcelona.
من ارقى المطاعم الي دخلتها الموظفين كانو في قمة الذوق المحار اجمل محار جربته في حياتي البايلا لا اعرف لذيذة لانها المره الاولى فقط المدير قليل الخبرة مع الزوار الموظف ديفيد وجيرارد من أفضل الموظفين الذي رأيتهم ذكرتهم فقط حتى اذا قابلهم شخص زائر يتذكر صحيح ما اقوله علما لم ابلغهم في تقييمي او طلبو ذلك
In the past, 7 Portes has been a fabulous experience and I was excited to bring friends that were visiting. I had reserved for 8 people and paid the required 60€ fee to reserve. I received 2 email confirmations, one being 2 hours prior to arrival. When we arrived I was told I didn’t reserve, so I showed the young lady my confirmation. Then a gentleman became quite frustrated and animated with me telling me ‘we have you pay the reservation fee for parties of 8 or more’. I told him that I did and he replied that they didn’t receive it. I calmly responded that I did and showed him my second confirmation email from that afternoon. He raised his voice saying this ‘was a problem, it happens all the time’. “What would you like us to do. We’re here”, I shrugged. Long pause… some fast talk in Catalan I didn’t understand, except for the tone…His reply, still with a frustrated tone and a little loud was ‘I’ll fix this and seat you, but you need to leave the table by 9.’ I agreed and we sat. My family has been in the restaurant business for most of my life and I was taught to keep calm, polite and resolve issues. Needless to say, although resolved, it was not done politely. If there’s a problem with their reservation system, that’s on them. 🤷🏻♀️
Service, as always, was fantastic. My side of the table shared a paella, a veal dish and the bacalao a la launa (which I love). This time my fish dish was rubbery and lacked flavor (unusual) and sat on the table. When I told the waiter there was no reaction/response, so there it sat, hence the 3 stars on food and 4 on service, instead of 5.
I was embarrassed that I talked so well of this restaurant to people that were there for their first time. I realize things happen, but I’m not sure I will return and bring others, sadly.
