This was my first time trying Zuki moon since they transitioned from Kaizen. I thought the experience was good, but a couple of things need to be tweaked. First the good - I thought the place was nice and the chicken ramen I had was very tasty. I liked the soft noodles and the book choy. But if you're not a spicy person like me, ask for less spice or skip all together. It was really intense but I got used to it and ate it all. I brought the teriyaki chicken appetizer home. Not so good - I felt bad for the one bartender who was also waiting tables. I certainly acknowledge that she did her best, but I wish she had help. Overall, I'd come here again.
Wow, this place has really gone downhill since it changed from Kaizen to Zuki Moon. Kaizen was one of our favorite restaurants in Del Rey, and Zuki is basically terrible. Maybe it was just a bad night, but there was one waitress for the entire restaurant and the food ranged from bad to worse. Only tasty item was the fried lumpia, which was probably frozen. $22 Ramen had almost no noodles. Sushi was awful. Such a disappointment.
I had high hopes for this place but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. The atmosphere was nice (at first) but the service and food left a lot to be desired. It took 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and gave us water (mind you this is an extremely small space, it is very obvious if a table has been helped yet). Our server for the evening was the bartender - she was nice but was balancing way too much at once - I do not know why we did not have a regular server like every other table seemed to. An appetizer we ordered was forgotten about and we had to remind her after 20+ minutes of waiting, and then one of our entrees brought out was incorrect. I also asked for one type of cocktail and was given another. The taste of the food was surprisingly bland - not bad but not memorable at all. The entire evening, the music playing was very weird for the vibe of the space, and around 9pm they blasted the volume making it an extremely unpleasant experience to sit in there while finishing our meals. I would not return.
I went for the handcrafted cocktails but ended up staying for the amazing company of Journeyman and bartender Antwan. I highly recommend trying the sparkling sake - it's rich, tangy, sweet, and has earthy notes that are simply next level. Trust me, you won't regret it!
Enjoyed my visit here! The first time I tried the pork belly skewers they were tasty and juicy, but the second time they were dry... The sushi rolls were amazing both times, fresh and unique.
We stopped by for a late dinner on my sister's birthday, and the staff were super friendly and warm hearted. The food and drinks were also delicious. We tried all three types of skewers, and every single one of them was wonderful. The pork belly skewer was one of the most tender, juicy pork belly I've ever had; the beef skewer had a slight charcoal grilled taste and was perfectly seasoned; the karaage skewer was also juicy and was our favorite. I ordered the lavender moon drink and it was super good- not too sweet but perfectly citrusy and refreshing. My sister had their local pilsner, and it was a darker taste than we expected, but we enjoyed it as well. Lastly, the staff provided us with a slice of their mango mousse cake and it was airy and light. Tldr: we had a memorable time with the workers and delicious food. We're definitely coming back again!
Great service and lovely small bar vibe. The skewers were the highlight but the sushi was on par with other good sushi places nearby.
We came here expecting to find Kaizen Tavern, but were very happy to find Zuki Moon there instead. The food (spicy Cucumbers and Salmon Donburi) and drinks were delicious, the service and recommendations made by the staff were on point, and the atmosphere was very cozy on a rainy Sunday evening. They were sadly out of desserts by the time we arrived, so we'll have to go back earlier in the week so we can try those.
