Came in for a quick meal with my wife and was pleasantly surprised with great service and excellent food. Would recommend as a great lunch spot.
food is excellent every time I come here. The staff, all the way from the owners, down to even the kitchen staff and everyone in between are really nice and you can tell they enjoy what they do. That really goes a long way towards making this a place I enjoy coming to and introducing new people to. I can’t recommend this place enough. If I could give more than five stars I would. 10 out of 10 would (and do) recommend.
On Wednesday April 17, my wife and I went to Zappone’s based off a recommendation from her co-worker who praised it. We arrived a little after 6 and were greeted by Michael the only server in the restaurant. Michael was very professional and attentive to the few patrons and provided service you’d see at a $50-$100 a plate restaurant. As we sat in the dining area by the bar which was empty. As we sat there we could hear the staff in the kitchen area through the open doorway leading to the kitchen. We could hear a voice talking in the kitchen and dropping the F bomb. At first we didn’t pay no attention until we heard it again and again. At that point we decided to start counting how many F bombs were dropped until Michael came back to our table. A few minutes later Michael came back with our food which was mediocre at best and at that point we had heard 14 F bombs and the S word 3 times. I told Michael about it and he apologized. The person firing off the F word somehow managed to use the word multiple times within a single sentence as they tried to convey whatever nonsense they were attempting. Michael went into the back and told the people in the back that we could hear them. Michael came back out and apologized again. Within a few minutes we could hear the same person in the back firing off more F bombs and and now mocking Michael and us for complaining. A few minutes later, two people came out from the back and were side eyeing around, looking to see who complained. They returned to the back and continued their cuss word riddled conversation and making comments about the complaint. After a brief conversation with Michael, he asked for I my phone number to give to the owner. The following day, Ryan the son of the owners called me. I tell him about how great the server Michael was and what happened. He apologized, said he would talk to his employees and it won’t happen again. During the conversation Ryan was quick to asked us to give them another shot and gave the impression that it wasn’t a big deal. I didn’t expect Ryan to beg, grovel or offer any free meals for my business but to blow it off made me stand on business and write this review. Based on the food, atmosphere and dealing with Ryan, I wouldn’t recommend this place even if they offered a buy one get one free coupon.
If you love fresh pasta and food with great service that is family owned, this is the place for you. Mike is a great waiter, been in the business 20 years and knows how to take care of people. The owners and staff are very invested in taking care of their customers and providing and cooking great food.
Great food. Neighborhood spot. Not fancy but exceeded our expectations. Nice selection of wine. Dinner and dessert were very good.
I had the lobster pasta and it was so yummy and the perfect level of spice. Michael our server was amazing and extremely attentive. He was super kind to us and made us feel welcome! We will be coming back.
Pizza was good and our server Michael was very friendly and had great suggestions!
AMAZING!!! Our server Michael did a fantastic job and was quite lively. The food was amazing. No complaints!
We had the calamari appetizer, it was fantastic!! It has a little extra kick that really makes it taste great. We had a build your own pizza with the fennel sausage, prosciutto and meatballs. Kayla was our server, she is such a great part of this place, she makes everything come together. Don't let the prices keep you away, it is well worth it.
The original owners of this restaurant were amazing people and knew how to prepare great authentic Italian food. Since the new owners have taken over it just has not held the same standards. Be careful, last time I went with a group of people to this restaurant 12/28/21, 1/2 of us got very sick. Health department needs to visit this place. Service was terrible, and staff were rude, using profane language and inappropriate. Will never go here again! It is too bad as the original owners made it an awesome place.
We have been coming here for a couple of years and they never disappoint. The food is honestly better than any chain place in town and the service is always good. They also do catering. Definitely give this place a shot. great local Italian food. ***Still great!!
Got here for lunch, 3 family's of 2 people were here and I asked to sit outside. Waited 20 minutes outside while everyone else ate and didn't get drinks or was even addressed again. Walked away just wasting my time. Won't come back
This place is legit, Italian like I used to get in Chitown. Noodles, sauce, incredible
Staff was friendly but food was bland - fettuccine w shrimp and rigatoni all forno. Rigatoni al forno was not very hot and I sent it back to have it warmed up. Price was high for portion sizes and food quality - although that may just be because prices are up on many things right now in our country.
Some of the best Italian food available. Fresh and authentic. Be careful not to fill up on the bread!
Best Italian food Mesa I almost don't want to be recommended it. By the way the way they they take reservations, if you want a table that's the way to go
