We've been to Zaharakos quite a few times, and it's become our "go to" spot when visiting Columbus, IN. Where else can you get delicious ice cream in a parlour built in 1900? The marble countertops, the Mahogany paneling, and the Tiffany glass are so beautiful! The mechanical organ adds to the ambiance, too. We usually just get ice cream there, but they serve entrees, too. It's always a treat!

Multiple bad experiences here... The customer service and product quality has been terrible every time we've gone.

We were in Columbus for the eclipse and happened to find this gem! It is such a unique and fun place to have lunch and/ or a treat! They were very curteous despite being very busy with the large numbers of visitors. I appreciated the coloring book they offered our son that included the history of the ice cream parlor/ soda shop. We hope to return soon when we are in the area! Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly- well priced kids menu, provided a coloring book and they have a lot for kids to look at like antique soda fountains and the mechanical music instruments

Granted it was busy, the ice cream was good but it was near impossible to put our order in.

I'll start this review by saying I think someone COULD have a good experience at this restaurant. But sadly I didn't and my personal review is two stars. We arrived at 12 in the afternoon and were not seated until 1:15. The waitress did not come to take orders until we flagged her down about 20 minutes later. Food took 30 minutes to arrive, ketchup, mustard, and mayo containers at the table were empty and we waited several more minutes for someone to come back with those. The food itself was mediocre and unexceptionable, fish filet was dry and hard, onion rings were wet, fries were overly salty. After we were done with our food we had to flag down our waiter after 30 minutes of waiting to order dessert. Dessert took another 20 minutes. No employees ever came around to take dishes, trash, fill waters, or ask how we were doing. Food? Below average. Service? Awful. Atmosphere? Actually pretty great!
