I shopped at Winco when I lived in the northwest and was SO happy to find locations here in Phoenix. The prices are great and the employees are fantastic.

Don’t buy the bagels. I bought 2 Of their “fresh baked” bagels, And when I got home and tried to eat one, it tasted like mold. Threw it out, and tried the second one, annd it also tasted like mold. So gross! Never buying a bagel or a baked Good there again

One of the managers here, April, is one of the rudest women that I've ever encountered in my life. The way she talks to employees when she doesn't see customers around is despicable. I watched her make a young female employee cry. When I took this issue to the general manager Kari she was polite but completely dismissive. Not a thing was done when I followed up on my next visit with the employee. Many of the employees here are wonderful. I like the store in general but having spoken with a few of the employees as a long time shopper apparently these managers are a nightmare.

We moved to northern Phoenix 3.5 years ago (and I still miss Meijer) , and started shopping at Bashas right away because they were just around the corner. Once we had the essentials, we branched out a bit to Safeway, Albertsons, and Fry's. And we have done Walmart once in a great while. After a while, I learned of Winco Foods, but thought it was just a no-brand store. I finally went in a few weeks ago because I learned they had bulk spices. I was impressed by the selection and how clean everything was - - not something I normally associate with discount stores. In addition to the large bulk food area, they also have a large produce area and butchers area. I didn't shop for much beyond that, but what I saw, I'd compare to a huge Aldi's. I learned they don't accept credit cards, but luckily I had enough cash on me. I've already gone back once and plan to check them out again real soon. Edit: I've been back many times now, and each time I go with a larger shopping list. I've always grocery shopped at multiple locations (based on pricing, sales, location, freshness, etc) and I I'm finding myself buying less at the other stores. As inflation has impacted prices everywhere, this place keeps getting more of my business. It hasn't avoided inflation, but has kept it minimal, at least for the items we needed. For another update 10/22 they still have great prices, yes some have gone up but still cheaper than the other grocery stores in the area. Ditto for February 2023. And ditto may 2023. Still an awesome option as of July 2023. November 2023 still a great place to shop. Ditto March 2024. Still great June 2024.
