Château Mouton Rothschild, with its storied history and dynamic evolution, has deep ties to the Rothschild banking family. The estate's name, like other renowned Bordeaux vineyards, derives from its elevated location. In 1853, Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild acquired Brane-Mouton in disrepair, initiating its restoration. Although once part of the esteemed Segur estate alongside Calon, Phelan, Lafite, and Latour, Mouton was classified as a second growth in 1855.
