During a recent trip to Frederick for house hunting, I had the opportunity to dine at Up on Market. My experience at this establishment was a mix of highs and lows. **Positives:** Atmosphere: The restaurant offers a cozy and enjoyable environment, which was one of the highlights of my visit. Service: Paola, our server, was exceptional, especially considering the limited staffing at the time. **Negatives:** Food Pricing vs. Portion Size: The major downside was the pricing in relation to the portion sizes. As someone accustomed to dining at upscale establishments, I don't mind paying for quality. However, at Up on Market, the portion sizes were disappointingly small, which did not justify the high prices. **Crab Cake Appetizer Incident:** A specific instance that left a particularly sour taste was the crab cake appetizer, priced steeply at $40. Expecting a sizable crab cake for the cost, I was dismayed to find, upon opening the take out container at home, what could only be described as "crab cake crumbs" atop a bed of lettuce. The amount of crab was significantly less than the lettuce, which was surprising and disappointing. Moreover, my mother discovered shell pieces within these crumbs, further detracting from the overall quality. Based on this experience, I find it hard to recommend Up on Market. The disproportionate pricing and portion sizes, coupled with the disappointing quality of a high-priced item, overshadowed the positive aspects of atmosphere and service. Unfortunately, I do not see myself returning to this establishment.
Lunch is really nice with brunch options and a full menu. Opting for the hangar steak sandwich and jamon buerre was great and the house cooked potato chips were amazing.
Amazing place! Everything about this bistro is authentic Parisian. We came for after-dinner drinks during a very busy Saturday and the service people were slammed, but managed to keep their composure. We came the next morning for breakfast and our food (omelet and French toast) were beautiful. Service was incredibly pleasant and attentive. Food comes out of the kitchen when it's ready, so this is not an in-and-out in an hour experience. Take your time and enjoy the setting.
Quality of food was good but my dish was lacking seasoning, in particular salt. My party of 3 found their plates mediocre and underseasoned as well. The pricing is high for what we were served. Loved the location and French Cafe feel though.
Unaffordable if interesting brunch menu. Seafood dishes look reasonable and great. White table cloth casual, cute.
Service was just plain awful. My husband and I had dinner there a couple weekends ago and will not be returning.
Francis and Michelle always welcome me into the restaurant and the food is phenomenal. They have become a staple in the community and It's a joy to dine there! The atmosphere is so nice. It's not too loud and has a eclectic urban feel, yet cozy.
