Everyone on the staff, from the woman who took our reservation to the gentleman who greeted us to our wonderful server, was helpful, friendly, and attentive. It was a busy day there because of a local event and the staff handled it expertly. We were a group of five for an 80th birthday celebration and the birthday person received a candle, a song, and a hand-signed card! The TK staff all helped make it a special day. Vegetarian options: Good veggie burger Dietary restrictions: Several gluten-free options

I was surprised at how nasty the food is. Been there twice, wasn’t impressed the first time…expected better the second time but no. The atmosphere and branding are all deceiving. The food is chipotle quality at best. The dumplings are so clearly frozen out of a package. Dude the food was just awful it was shocking.

This restaurant was a second choice for us that evening. The restaurant was not very busy and we were seated immediately. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and directed us towards some of their classics… the beet salad was quite good, the octopus, and the tuna tartare were just eh. As for entrees I had the special strip steak which was cooked well and delicious! I also had a steak was perfectly very tasty. Desserts… The only one I would consider getting again was the waffle with ice cream. However, it did remind me of something at IHOP. But the other two, one was a cookie crumble and one was pears and apples. Both of those we didn’t even finish. Just get the IHOP waffle if you’re doing dessert!

The most expensive ok food in Hartford. We went here for Valentine's Day, and I like to give some wiggle room since it's a very busy day for restaurants. But for the price, there were several glaring issues. First I will address the atmosphere. Over all it was nice, but we were seated in the upstairs corner. Our table was angled on such a way that both my husband I were wedged in odd, even though there was a sizable gap between me and the next table. It was almost like they were trying to make it uncomfortable. Now we will move to the service, which was fine. Our server was nice and quick. No issues there. The most important part of the dinning experience is the food. And here is where the problems showed up. Our cocktails were good and the ceviche we had as an appetizer was delicious as well. But it seems the kitchen ran out of salt and spices when it came to our meals. I had the yellow fin tuna, and other than the cracked pepper there was no salt or spice on the entire dish. My couscous was a mushy pile of.. bleh. It was so overcooked I thought they brought me the wrong side at first. And the spinach had never heard of flavor. My husband's hanger steak was also lacking any wow factor, though his french fries were good. We decided to try to rescue the night with the creme brulee. It was tasty enough, though we joked it was jello brand vanilla pudding with a brulee topping. Overall it was ok. It wasn't gross, but it wasn't something I was willing to spend that much money on. It was a disappointing Valentine's Day.

Great place for happy hour however the music sucks!! I don't want to hear regueton every time i come here. The reason i started coming here was because of the music, it was nice louge music. It really set the mood. Please tell the DJ to switch up the music. He's playing for himself and not the patrons.

I wanted to take my girlfriend out for her birthday to a restaurant neither of us had been to before. Some college friends of mine had always recommended Trumbull Kitchen but never got a chance to visit until this past Monday. Despite my friends’ amazing reviews, Trumbull Kitchen still managed to surpass my expectations. We were warmly greeted by the manager, John, who helped us get seated with a smile on his face and friendly conversation. We were then waited on by Jaden who is, without a doubt, the best waitress either of us have had before. She was genuine, kind, and very helpful with explaining multiple menus for food and drink. She made sure to go out of her way to make my girlfriend’s birthday dinner a very special one from start to finish. After a delicious meal including flautas, duck dumplings, and soppressata pizza we were surprised to be given the choice of a free dessert which came with a signed birthday card from the staff. All of the food was plated beautifully and tasted even better than it looked. Needless to say, we were thoroughly impressed and expect to share special meals together at this restaurant for years to come. This is the perfect spot for a date night, birthday, anniversary, celebration, or just a homely meal.
