Hostesses were not very inviting and stood around chatting.

They tried; I think. Steak was tasteless & rubbery, and I'm guessing the chef was supposed to be annoying, maybe? I don't know. Really? Throwing shrimp? Who thought that was a good idea? Anyway, $180 for four people including tip. Guess I was just hoping for better quality food for that kind of money. The waitress was top tier. The parking was nice. Can't recommend.

This was our first time visiting Tokyo Steakhouse in Salisbury. It was a birthday celebration and my goal was to make it a fun dinner. For the most part this succeeded. Our first little glitch was no big deal. We had to move seats due to a mistake, which the hostess apologized for no less than five times. Really no issue and we appreciated her apologies. We were seated and our waitress was prompt and kind. Our drinks were brought to us quickly, as were the appetizers which were freshly cooked and tasty. Then the chef came out. He was fun and funny (woo woo!), although I'm not sure squirting water on an unsuspecting customer is the greatest idea, but was received with class and some giggles. The fried rice was very savory and tasted great. Vegetables were a bit bland but no big deal there since tbh we weren't there for the veggies. The big issue came when it was time for the "I'm gonna flip this shrimp into your mouth" part of the show. I understand that this is part of the hibachi experience, but I would encourage your chefs to take "No" as an actual "No" during this portion of the show. If a patron does not care for shrimp, and does not want to catch a shrimp in their mouth, then the chef should respect those wishes and not throw a shrimp at the patron anyway. Unfortunately, this was disrespectful and dampened the mood a bit, which is why I have to lower the rating by a star. The rest of the meal was uneventful, the food was very tasty and plentiful. There was a performance of Happy Birthday with the most enthusiastic gonger (? what do you call a person who bangs a gong?) I have ever seen in my life. This man "played" the gong like he was onstage during a concert and doing his solo performance. We absolutely loved it. All in all, our experience was good, with the exception of the shrimp-flip which left a bad taste in the mouth (metaphorically not literally). I'll again encourage management to please have your chefs bypass anyone who doesn't want to take part in catching the shrimp. Other than that, it was a fun night, perfect for a birthday celebration.
