My wife and I had Sunday lunch on the whole it was ok. The food was lovely apart from the long black hair in my wifes starter then the complete lack of empathy after. No real acknowledgement and certainly no offer of any kind to appease the situation. Because the waiter didn't write anything down things were missed off the main course. When we came to pay we didn't get to see the bill except when asking to see it to make sure the starter was taken off as we were not going to pay for a dish that wasn't eaten. Shame as it's a nice place but overall I would think twice about eating there again.
We loved seeing this pub again, and there was a decent crowd for a Tuesday lunchtime. My partner ordered hake with the chowder but when it arrived she wanted my monkfish curry instead. That was fine by me, I never seem to enjoy monkfish, and I thought the hake (which she hadn't so much as prodded with a fork) had a look of succulence about it. We exchanged plates and I was happy at once with the swap. The fish indeed was succulent and there was a little crispness to the skin. With some pepper the chowder was very nice. I'd have it again tomorrow if I could
The food was great and Jamie was a great waiter
Excellent food and service
Lovely meal with family at the Three Crowns. A lovely spot in Chagford with a stunning inside area. Food is up to par with the interior design- fresh, tasty and divine. Enjoyed the chicken burger which was lovely. Will be here again when I return to Devon with family. Very accommodating for a large group of people as well as a small dog.
We went to the Three Crowns for lunch on Monday. We were shown to the bar instead of the restaurant with the explanation that nobody was in the restaurant. My guests said they were happy to eat in the bar but maybe they were just being polite.I found the seats too low to eat comfortably at the table and would have preferred the bright spacious ambience of the restaurant. Other members of my family have had the same experience on previous occasions, I wonder why they avoid using the beautiful restaurant.
My daughter booked a table for 6 family members on Mothers Day. Food was excellent. My only moan was the fact that my 94yr old mum dropped her bread roll which came with the Prawn Cocktail.i asked the waitress if we could have another . She returned from the kitchen and said there would be a charge for another one or we could have a slice of whole meal bread. We had 2 bottles of wine at £35 pound per bottle and with drinks before our bill amounted to £300 . Surely they could have given us a free bead roll !!
