Our Story In 2010, Lia Altan offered her baking to the public and began taking orders for her popular cakes and desserts. Within 1 year it became necessary to open a storefront. The Sweet Art of Cake’s first store opened on Mission Boulevard just outside of downtown Hayward in October 2011. In 2014, she opened the store in the Fairway Park Shopping Center. Always finding ways to improve her traditional offerings, she adding gluten free and vegan products to the menu. In 2024 she closed the store but, working out of a commercial kitchen, continues to accept a limited number of orders each week.
