Love, love, LOVE this place! Amazing coffee, phenomenal food, and kick-ass service. So grateful to have this place right around the corner from my home!
I ate an irresponsible amount of very well-prepared meats and sides that I bought from very nice people, it was a highlight of this stop in Richmond for sure. Big ups.
Hi! My husband and I make it a point to find good food and good coffee when we travel. When we can find both and great service, it is a good day. Today in Richmond Virginia, our first coffee shop is The Smoky Mug!
Just the fact that our presence was acknowledged was a plus (so many places do not even say hi) then we were helped by someone who we can tell was tired but did not give us that vibe. He engaged with us and answered our questions.
The vibe here is chill and most importantly the coffee is delicious. We orded the light roast and it did not disappoint. FYI - the lighter the roast the more caffine it has 😍
Y'all was cool with the prices when you first opened up, but $30 for 2 coffees and an elf sized burrito is crazy work.
I'm hoping that things improve when they move to their new spot. Great menu. I especially like their tortillas which are superior to most. Their food size/quantity has reduced in recent times which makes it feel over priced. BBQ is always expensive, but want the burritos to be bigger and more filled out with other ingredients if it's going to be a small portion of meat. The coffee drinks are highly inconsistent. They badly need a trainer or a recipe guide. I order the same thing and it will come out different every time. Drinks aren't stirred, espresso is poured into a plastic cup which melts it. Worst iced coffee cups ever. They're the sip lid kind and they're hard to drink out of on the run. Pay attention or wear a bib. The drinks spill constantly because the plastic cup is so thin. This place is generally inconsistent, but I'm glad it exists.
This a very good place to try (or keep coming back to!). I came for breakfast to discover it’s only a mile from my house. I had the breakfast sandwich on a potato bread bun with maple sage sausage. It was delicious. It is quaint inside and out, has window seating which I love, and a beautiful covered seating area outside, very good-sized. I’ll be coming here for lunch and dinner over time and definitely in the mornings for coffee and a bagel!!
The Brisket is good the sides that come with the platter is not that great but for the price I don’t know if it’s worth it. This place also seems more like a breakfast place more than a lunch or dinner place.
I live in the neighborhood and feel so lucky to have this place just around the corner. Coffee and barbecue??! Hell yes. The staff is nothing short of lovely, they’re always so kind and accommodating and super sweet to my kids. Coffee is excellent and they have good decaf espresso which is rare. The breakfast burrito with pulled pork is probably my favorite breakfast item in all of RVA, it’s pure perfection of textures and flavors and spice. The baked goods are also really really good (zucchini carrot muffin omg).
For dinner I recommend catching the pork belly burned ends, they only have them a couple days of the week and it’s pure candy. 10/10 one of the best places in Richmond.
Reminded me out my home back in Texas! Loved the tour whose atmosphere and the coffee was delicious! I got an iced Amaretto latte!
The quality of service and coffee is amazing! Staff is super friendly and awesome and the Latte’s and Dark Roast are great!
Great brisket. Full plates.
Breakfast burritos are tiny. I chose this place because of reasonable prices, but it turns out there's a reason the prices are low. Taco-size tortilla wrapped around a little egg and burned hash browns. Turns out to be a super-expensive burrito nugget.
I just got an oatmeal cup but it was super good with fresh fruit
