The River Bottom

This gem of a restaurant is tucked below The Black River Tavern in South Haven. With a Mediterranean menu, it’s one of the few restaurants in South Haven with ethnic food, such as lamb and tabouli; a delicious alternative to bar fare. The atmosphere transports you to Turkey, with cozy nooks and couches and a pool table in the back. Jessi, at the bar serves up cocktails with conversation. I felt like I was in a spy novel, waiting for a secret meeting or the next assignment. My husband and enjoyed a memorable evening.

Unbelievable flavors! Exactly what South Haven needed. Mediterranean food at its finest. Jessi was our phenomenal waitress who is so knowledgeable about the menu and was able to make recommendations to our liking. We enjoyed the Carrot Tarator for an appetizer, the Iskender Kebap for my main dish and the Cannolis for dessert. Yum!!! She knew which wines to pair with the entrees as well. Fabulous experience. I highly recommend The Tiver Bottom whenever you’re in South Haven! Vegetarian options: Wide array of vegetation options! All good!

Great food and atmosphere

This was my second time in. We left the first visit because we couldn't get waited on. This time they were not real busy, but they only had 2 people working. We arrived at 6pm and ordered the hummus plate. About 15 minutes later our waitress comes back and says we are out of hummus??? It specializes in mediterranean food and you run out of hummus at 6pm. So we ordered something different at 7:20 our food finally came out. All except the Falafel wrap I ordered. Maybe it's the time of the year. They don't stock everything but the help should know what is available before you order. As a local I'm always looking to stay and spend in town it just will not be here.

The food! Wow! It was phenomenal! So was the atmosphere. Definitely will be back soon. I'm from AZ.

Try this place! Speakeasy style restaurant just below the Black River Tavern serving Mediterranean style dishes. Had the Iskender Kebap for dinner and was delighted by the flavor of the lamb + beef.

Excellent diversity for South Haven. The Atmosphere is awesome. The chef provides a great alternative for our great town. The portions are modest, which is appreciated. We attended their packed our new years celebration. It was spectacular. If you want a change from the standard fair, this is the place to go.

Love the atmosphere, amazing food & drinks!

I eat at the speakeasy downstairs regularly. The food has yet to disappoint. I recommend all of their hummus. It is made in-house by the chef. Their drinks are out of this world. Enjoy this place. There are not many like it.
