Food and service were phenomenal. We had the brussel sprout appetizer which was deep fried with honey and pistachio which was slightly too oily. For the entrees; the steak was perfectly cooked and I couldn't get enough of the poule with herbs and house made Cesar dressing. My wife got the duck entree, which was cooked medium rare, kept its gamey flavor while capitalizing on the fat with a veggie puree backdrop. The suggested cocktails for each entree were excellent and paired perfectly with the dishes we ordered. We capped off the evening with the bread cheese dessert and split a tawny port. Awesome experience overall, and on Valentine's Day to boot! An absolute gem on the east side. Upscale protein at mid range prices. If you're in Milwaukee, make your way to The Original!
Upscale food at mid-scale price! This is a hard to beat spot if you want great food without breaking the bank. Impeccable service in a cozy setting too. Highly recommend the brunch menu. Hashbrowns were buttery and delicious. The summer sausage breakfast sandwich was impeccable.
A nice quaint spot. Our waiter was Craig. He and his brother started up the placed a short while ago. Food was good, especially the fried brussel sprout appetiser. The entres had to much salt. But were presented very well. My beer was spilled by the waiter. Accidents happened. He took the appetiser and dessert off our bill.
Super consistent delicious. Fantastic duck, mushroom, steak, fish, pork. Perfectly crispy roasted brussel sprouts. Excellent rendition of poutine. Only ok cornbread muffins (perhaps b/c we ordered them as an afterthought). Always great desserts, alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks. This is a true local gem. We are accustomed to all sorts of local, national, international cuisines and The Original is our go-to in MKE.

New Year’s Eve dinner at the Original did not disappoint! The prix fixe menu was perfection with each course building on the next until the finale: dessert: scratch carmel sauce, melt in your mouth truffle and the perfect poached pair with blue cheese. Did I mention the cocktails? Fantastic! Thank you for making the close of 2023 a delish culinary memory!!
