Our first time here and won’t be our last! From start to finish our time at The Mermaid was perfect. Very friendly and welcoming service from Solos. From the greeting as we arrived to our departure the service was first class. The food was delicious as was the wine. The white wine was recommended to us and was very good. We look forward to returning soon. The food is easily the best in Leeds. Cooked with passion.

The food was amazing and the staff were polite and courteous. We hadn't been for ages and will definitely be coming back more often. Loved it Dietary restrictions: They were excellent and knew what was in their food. Parking: The car park surface is really good

Wow. Quite possibly the worst fish and chips in the country. I have had some bad ones in my life but this took the biscuit. We ordered two fish chips and mushy peas to take out which was our great regret later. Firstly the price: 9 pounds for the fish, another 2.50 to add chips and a further 3 pounds to add the side of mushy peas. This was per person! For that price we expect quality. Nope! The fishes were soggy and there was so much grease it had permeated the wrapping and caused it to become one with the batter. Separating this was an ordeal in of itself. The fish were completely tasteless. The chips themselves were also soggy and dripping with so much grease the paper clung to them and tore up on unwrapping. Onto the peas which were lukewarm and watery. Overall I would say avoid. I've never had a fish and chip before where we threw it out without finishing but here we are. If I could get a refund I would.

We called in as soon as they opened so expected freshly cooked food, sadly not the case at all! Chips we're nearly Cold, Soggy and some were raw in places! Curry wasnt fishshop curry more a greasy water & the scallops were hard! Worst chipshop weve used in years if I'm honest! It's gone massively downhill! We should of listened to the reviews and avoided this place! Shame!!!

Far too expensive for what it is. Would not visit again
