The Ivy Asia Cardiff

Came here for my friend's birthday in hopes of showing him what the Ivy is like as he'd never been before and was completely let down. We had reserved a table for his birthday and specified the occasion on the website. Upon arrival, we were greeted and sat down. Excited to eat, we ordered our food and this is where things went downhill. Some of the food ordered did not arrive for upwards of an hour and our table was completely ignored. Other parties around us arrived later and received their food almost instantly. Some dishes brought to our table were not what we had ordered. 1 of the party members received their meal twice and not once were we asked how our food was or if our meal was okay. Service was shocking and I am embarrassed that I even recommended this to my friend for his birthday. The restaurant knew it was his birthday, they knew it was his special day, he was excited and even the waiter who took our order was informed of this. Utter let down. Other branches of Ivy that I have visited have not been like this and it's not something I'd expect from this sort of restaurant. Terrible service. Would not return.

Potentially the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. As a regular at Ivy Asia & similar calibre restaurants, today I experienced the worst service of my life. Once our food orders were taken, after 30 minutes and two requests to order, it took over an hour for 5 out of 11 plates to come. During this time we asked staff regarding the wait time to which we were essentially told to wait 10 more minutes only for nothing to arrive for another 20. Furthermore, during this time we were given the incorrect dishes and entirely ignored by staff. As a regular at this location and others across this UK I was incredibly disappointed. Additionally this booking was for a close friends birthday, I recommended Ivy Asia over Gauchos and I am hugely embarrassed to have done so. I genuinely doubt I shall come here again and advise no one else to do so. I did alert management again to the horrendous experience after the service charge was added to our first bill, to which they did reduce the original bill - however the nonchalant unapologetic attitude doesn’t at all cover the awful experience. If I could score service a 0/5, I would.

The whole experience was wonderful. All the staff were brilliant but especially Phoebe and Sophie who made our lunch very special.

Had a brilliant time as always. The service was faultless, even got an unexpected birthday treat, food was delicious and the atmosphere was so friendly. Can't wait to return!

Very rude front of house. (Red headed young girl) Dirty table & chairs total lack of care or attention to detail place was generally grubby restaurant was empty with lots of staff stood around with hands in their pockets chatting to each other. To top it off clearly microwaved food boiling hot in parts freezing cold underneath. Very disappointed. No kitchen in the restaurant only a food prep area near the bathroom 90% of food shipped in days in advance and it shows as all ingredients were stale then poorly warmed and served that wasn’t even done to a reasonable standard. Special occasion ruined and £200 for the misfortune.
