The Dirty Shirley

Every time I've come in, I've felt welcomed. Met a lot of great people in a very short time. They take plastic, which is great compared to a lot of bars in the area. I don't mind cash-only - but I've been cash-broke and plastic-rich, and I'm just looking for a beer or three. ATMs don't help when your bank account is empty. One day I tried the food. To die for! Really, it's so so good. I grew up in Rock Island, then moved away for 25 years, then came back in 2020. This place used to be Spudnuts, which we walked to as children in the early 1970s. Then it became 14th Ave Waffle Shop. My parents went there all the time for breakfast. Fast forward to 2024. I'd seen Dirty Shirley as I passed by. Finally decided to check it out. Never regretted it since. I've been too busy for bars lately, but I'll visit again soon. I forgot a lot of names I learned in a short time. But I'll remember once reminded. Check it out!!

The burger was good, but that was all. They were out of the Ding Dong cake too.

A medicore and forgettable place for sure, but what stands out the most is the inappropriate behavior of the ownership. Felt like I was on a reality TV show episode the way they argued with and threatened patrons

The owner of this business didn't like when I pointed out the unclean conditions, poor food quality, small portions, and exorbitant price. After bringing this to their attention, the owner sent me private messages on social media, like some kind of stalker, threatening to "sue" me if I "hurt their business". Whoever is running this place has the mannerisms and behavior of a tween, and probably should talk to more lawyers before throwing around such claims in the future. Do not eat here and watch your back if you do, as the ownership is aggressive and doesn't respect privacy
