As an alternative rather like methadone to heroin, the Hook and Ladder delivers all that oaky bullery lemon goodness you crave without the added sugar and scientific sourcery they get away with over at cougar Koolaid hill. A little softer than its Californian counterparts this Washington Cabernet Sauvignon Blend is fun friendly and a little like the fun uncle at Thanksgiving delivers value for money and never quits amusing you. Cherry blueish and dark fruit, hints of anise and peppercorn with a chewy and delightful finish

This Syrah and Grenache blend from the Cotes du Rhone will satisfy any medium to full-bodied wine fan. Raspberry bacon fat and crushed rocks certainly give away this location when we blind-tasted it but the power and classic flavors are what blew me away. At this price it definitely over-delivers.

Rarely does Italy put the grape on the bottle but in Montepulciano, both the grape and the town go by the same name. Purple and black fruit with a light touch, medium oak influences, and moderate tannin make this a real beauty to enjoy over a casual dinner with loved ones. Just invite a few as they come in Magnums!!!
