Notes: This is a big, full bodied coffee. Rich, chocolate, nice bitter sweet finish. The Nicaragua Miraflor Cooperativa is comprised of two other cooperatives—Cooperativa Vicente Talavera and Cooperativa Jose Benito Diaz. Cooperativa Vicente Talavera has 36 members and was established in 1984, and the other cooperative has 21 members and was formed in 1993. After the coffee is picked, washing is done by the farmers on their farms. Then, the coffee is 100% sundried.

This coffee has a medium body and acidity. With distinctly Central/South American characteristics, it is not a bold or edgy coffee, but presents a pleasantly mild cup. These beans would nicely accent a blend with a touch of sweetness. Notes: Rich, full with the hallmark Peruvian sweetness.

The group is composed of over 1,000 farmers from villages throughout this central mountain area in Sumatra known for its Gayo coffees. Cooperative members are not only coffee farmers but also village collectors (local traders) and government leaders of the local villages. The cooperative stresses the involvement of the village government leaders in helping its producer group encourage other coffee farmers and members to join and participate in Gayo Linge.

Notes: smooth, rich, light roast The Asociación Barillense de Agricultores (ASOBAGRI) Cooperative is incredibly diverse representing 67 different Mayan communities. Of the 1107 active members growing organic coffee, about 95 are women who produce and process their own. Cooperative members grow high-quality, shade-grown coffee using organic compost. Since Fair Trade Certification in 1999, ASOBAGRI has enjoyed significantly higher revenues. They are now certified Organic, Café Feminino and Bird Friendly.

For over 20 years we have been working with the farmers in Monteverde through the Coope Santa Elena, near the Cloud Forest Preserve of Monteverde, Costa Rica. We have all grown and evolved over that time. The goal of the original partnership was to pay farmers a price for their coffee that would allow them to keep growing premium coffee and thrive in a dynamically growing area. Through the Dollar Back program, extra money has gone to fund projects unique to the Monteverde area. One dollar from the sale of each pound sold of Monteverde Dark Roast coffee goes to fund these projects. Cupping Characteristics: Pleasantly aromatic, mild. The flavor is clean and bright with light citrusy aftertaste.

Using our high-grown Partnership coffee from Monteverde, Costa Rica, we have added flavors both nutty and sweet. The flavoring is most prominent in the whole bean but, once ground, the coffee taste balances nicely with the Sunrise flavoring. Cupping Characteristics: Base coffee is bright and lively. The Sunrise flavoring adds a nutty, sweet, and aromatic element to the cup.
