Best chicken burrito in Detroit.
Coming back from Belle Isle we stopped at the Taqueria El Rey food truck. Their smoked chicken had been our favorite before their fire. We ordered the whole chicken. The price is still reasonable and the chicken is still the best! We ate it in our car in the parking lot across from their food truck. The smoky, juicy delicousness of the chicken is just as good as their previous brick and mortar spot. We highly recommend them!
Omg the chicken need I say more. Yes all food is good there
Parking: Just a few off-street spots next to the food truck. There's a parking lot across the street, but it's unclear whether that's reserved for another business. Street parking is not available on Vernor; you'll have to walk to a side street. Wheelchair accessibility: There is essentially zero accessibility. There is no accessible parking anywhere, and if you do manage to park and exit the vehicle from one of the few adjacent off-street spots, the concrete is in very poor condition, with many large holes that a mobility device cannot safely navigate. The food truck's ordering window and pickup window are both about 6 feet off the ground with a countertop projecting outward, so staff will need to exit the truck in order to conduct any transactions. I watched them gladly do that with a smile to deliver orders to a few customers who were simply seated at a table nearby.
I had 4 corn tacos, and with the sauces being not super spicy yet so flavourful, it can appeal to everyone! It came with limes, onions, and cilantro and even some chopped radishes! It's very tasty and so worth giving a mega huge tip given the affordability! They are also considerate of those getting to go as the whole tray was wrapped in a plastic bag in the carry out bag. PLEASE support this cash-only business and give them a try. If only more parking was available, but what can you really do in this part of town? Only sub-5 rating I gave was the atmosphere, as you are subjected to the elements. (but more like 4.5/5!) I'll be back to give their chickens a try someday. Love how the grill is right there in the open so you know it's fresh! Best corn tacos I've had, hands-down. Parking: About three-four spots available in the area, most other spots are taken up by cars.
