It was closed when it said on Google it was open. Drove 30 mins to have turn right back around and go home

Like most of the other recent reviewers, it sounds like this bar has gone majorly downhill after a recent change in management. 1) The server ignored us throughout the evening and the drinks took forever (as in at least 15 minutes) to arrive. I would understand this if the bar was busy or if our group was large, but the bar was maybe 20% occupied and we were a party of 4. Additionally, 2 of us ordered wine/beer so there's really no excuse. 2) The food was TERRIBLE. Tasted like cheap frozen appetizers that they just threw in a microwave. 3) Atmosphere was so off. Showed up at 8 and the lights were on full blast, as was the music. Could barely have a conversation with the person directly next to me, but hey, at least it was bright enough for me to try to read their lips. 4) They don't allow you to split checks. I can understand this with a large party but not even splitting a bill 2 ways? Seems like pure laziness. This was my first time here and will also be my last.
This used to be a alright place, but new ownership has really let it nosedive into a weird, anxiety-ridden, dirty atmosphere with too much lighting. Our drinks took forever to arrive, the bartender was openly drinking behind the bar, and I witnessed someone, who I believe to be the owner, openly berating our waitress several times in the short time we were there. There are much better places to spend an evening in the Grove. Put this at the end of your list. Jon Taffer would take one look at this place and yell SHUT IT DOWN. Awful.
Takashima used to be the place to start on Friday or Saturday nights! My Fiancé and I used to come and enjoy great cocktail and food at least once a month. We would bring all our friends and even spent our 2 year anniversary here! However in a very short period of time the entire experience has drastically gone down hill, we walked in a week ago at 845pm and the lights were bright like a brunch place (used to be dark and ambient) they changed their menu and shrunk it big time, drinks took forever to arrive at the table, food took forever to arrive and I can only guess it sat in the window forever because it came ice cold and to top it all off they apparently can't split the check anymore lol. I guessed the owner sold the business and asked the server and she said it was under new ownership and they have changed everything. All staff quit and for good reason!! I will not be going back!
Good DJ. Music not too loud. You can have a conversation and still enjoy the music. Great service
New ownership destroyed this place for me. It’s not the same anymore, new smaller menu, long waits for drinks, all new staff, unable to split checks??? That’s just a few examples of the experience. Used to love this place and would come monthly for the past year.. Hope it gets better, but hearing how all the staff left due to new ownership & management I wish them the best of luck!
