Starter was delicious, so was the sushi. The ramen was absolutely pointless, bland and very overcooked grey beef. Scattered spinach, beef and some stock isn't ramen. Packet ramen is better. Cold and dry chicken with the other meal. Shame as the starter and sushi was so good.
Decent sushi in a place you might not be expecting any sushi at all. I'll not lie, it wasn't the best sushi in the world. There certainly wasn't anything wrong with it, but as sushi goes it was OK. Granted we had this as takeaway instead of eating at the restaurant, potentially that might have made the hot dishes better. But overall, nothing you couldn't put together at home with supermarket ingredients and for considerably cheaper too. Salmon sashimi, 6/10: it was reasonably fresh, but nothing special, and found a few bones that hadn't been prepped completely. The 'side salad' of just a tomato slice seemed completely at odds with the dish. Sushi mixed platter, 6/10: again, reasonably fresh but fairly basic. Miso soup, 5/10: very basic, not a great deal of flavour. Salt and pepper chicken wings, 8/10: These were actually quite nice, good crunch even after steaming up a take away box. Would order these again. Eel on rice, 7/10: Eel was tender, sauce was sweet and savoury and overall prepared well. The staff were friendly and helpful when I came in to order, and the food was prepared pretty quickly. Special mention to say they very kindly gave me chopsticks for free after I realised too late they needed to be added to the bill (50p per pair FYI) and they have a £6 card minimum so I was a bit stuck otherwise.
