A bunch of kids in the drive thru
A North Carolina’s classic barbecue, I really recommend you visiting this restaurant. It might not be for everyone as people perceive barbecue differently according to the geographical and cultural conditions. Anyways it was a nice surprise and the food was tasty. Meat especially, I recommend you trying meat with spicy sauce. However dessert was really sweet.
Overall, great experience.
A Greensboro institution. I've gone here my entire life and it's about as "local" as something can get in North Carolina. Just move to the state and want the "real thing"? Go here. The margins aren't great on this BBQ and I can tell the numbers have gone down in recent years (as costs have risen), but Stamey's has been (and I hope will always be) Greensboro's BBQ joint. Always get the cobbler (with ice cream) with every meal, it's a law or something I think. P.S. The Brunswick Stew isn't too shabby.
A Greensboro staple. Good bbq, I have always wished they would get white slaw, the vinegar slaw is not my favorite.
90 years of bbq- YES PLEASE! Voted #1 best bbq in North Carolina! Seriously- yum! They also offer catering. This was our post science center lunch break & it was good! Big dining area- both sides of the building- seat yourself. Our server was at our table taking drink orders & we figured out of food order while she was there- small menu but mighty bbq options! Paul & I opted for the copied pork sandwiches w/fries & hubby & sis went for the dinner platters w/2 sides. Coleslaw, fries, hushpuppies & baked beans were their sides. I'm so serious- food was out in 5 minutes. I was stunned. I'm not a vinegar girl- so I skipped sauce with no regrets- hard wood coals flavor perfect- meat was juicy & moist & gone quickly! Each of us got the chopped pork & Hubby & sis enjoyed the vinegar based bbq sauce while Paul & I enjoyed the meat naked. The hushpuppies were more crescent moon shaped & yummy! I stuffed myself further by ordering the blueberry cobbler (cobbler of the day) with soft serve vanilla ice cream and Oh My Yes! I didn't finish it- but it was worth finishing the meal with an amazing dessert! This placeis all the way give stars from fast service to delicious bbq!
