Southwest Soda Pop Shop

Ice cream was fine. Hoping for more soda fountain options since it's ya know... A Soda Pop shop. Cake was dry and not tasty.

I’ve been working my way through the Washingtonian’s list of ice cream spots in the city and got to this one. There was nothing wrong with it per se but also nothing exceptional. It was expensive for what it was and my root beer float was made with soft serve and not hand dipped ice cream which means it just turned into a creamy mess. (Some may like that hence the detail!) I ended up throwing half of it away. I used to work at the wharf and I see why I never made it here. The woman who helped me was friendly and speedy.

My initial impression wasn’t the best. I walked up to the ordering window and some older gentleman was pretty rude when he was telling me that whoever was at the counter wasn’t there and I had to wait. I wanted maybe 8-10 minutes for them to return. When I finally was ordering the young lady could it seem any less interesting in helping me. After ordering a cheese burger and Lavender Lemonade for my wife my total came out to $16.50. Here is where things take a turn again, I waited about 25 minutes if not longer for my order…. I had no one else in front of me… I got my burger and had to wait an ADDITIONAL 3 minutes for my lemonade. While the burger was actually very very good and I would love to have it again, I believe it the service improves they would be a solid 5 stars.

It’s in a cute area that is fun to walk around. I ordered a root beer float that came out to be $9. The soft serve wasn’t very good. The root beer I think was warm so overall it just didn’t taste very good. A little over priced.

The lady in the window was great! Shortcake bites were amazing! Definitely worth a stop!

It is always a very good pleasure to come here to get something sweet 😋 But there is something I don't understand. There was a line of maybe 7 people and only one girl to do everything. But I saw a couple of times some people were also working at this shop inside, doing stuff except helping her... I know they probably have other stuff to do, but when it's a rush or a big line, you can still give a little bit of help... But the girl did great !

The lemonade was delicious and worth it. I love the family oriented atmosphere.

Update the hours

got wrong flavor AND wrong cone type. the wrong flavor was butter pecan so it would've been HORRIBLE if i had a nut allergy thank god i dont. i dont know how you can make a mistake like that. and i know it wasn't someone else's order because there was no other customers around and it was the same girl who took my order and handed it to me a minute later. she even repeated my order out loud right back to me after ordering and i confirmed. and then she still gave me a totally different flavor and different cone. plus the butter pecan was very watery and hardly tasted like anything which i see a lot of other people saying in the reviews. honestly just tasted like pure water with a hint of vanilla. it sucked. and i was so excited all day to get ice cream from here too so that was sad. the only good thing was the quantity, it was a pretty big scoop but didnt really matter since i hated the flavor another thing is it took me a minute to figure out where to pay because i didnt see a card reader, she just took my order and walked off while i held my card out for her and then i noticed the tiny slot in this tiny tablet which just isnt common nor intuitive for customers which i saw a couple other people saying so i feel like they could at least show the customer where to pay instead of just walking off or at least put a bigger label/sign

Our first time here, visiting from out of town. Our ice cream was delicious and the staff were kind, friendly and fun. Cannot recommend this place enough. Next time in town we will return here. Support local and pass up the chain ice cream shop. You won't be disappointed 🍦🍦

Just yes. It's a fun place in the Wharf to enjoy some creative ice cream creations. And, FUNNEL CAKE FRIES! All the Yesessss.

They always have just one girl working here. And this spot is always busy. So that makes her slow and angered customers

This was a wonderful place to get a Smoothie and they also had delectable Funnel Cake Fries! I wanted to get more!

Showed closed at 4:30 pm when I tried to order. The guy through the window just stared at me.

I got the smoothie of the day, strawberry pineapple and it was tart with a bad after taste that matched the attitude of the server
