Soul Boat

The place appeared clean when I went and the worker was polite. The food, however, was pretty bland. Nothing majorly wrong- I just wasn’t wowed. I had catfish, Mac, collard greens, half & half, and a slice of vanilla iced cake. I ended up adding my own seasonings to most of the items. The cornbread was pretty good when I tried it the next day. I sliced it, put it in a pan with butter & topped with jelly. Will I go back? Probably not.

THE Best fish in town. Best maccaroni & Cheese . Great collards . They need a Good Sweet potato pie. Hopefully they do that. I have to try their other food. I highly recommend them. Plus the prices are cheaper than most fish places.

3/6/2024 I found a black strand of hair matted in my fish. It was around 7 pm and my sides were not fresh. A family member ordered smothered pork chops and was throwing up that night. Mostly African Americans are keeping them in business. Be vigilant and pay attention to what they are selling us. This in my second incident and I don't plan on going to Soul Boat again. Would give zero stars if possible. Two years prior: Purchased some collard greens with my dinner. Found a piece of a green rubber band in my greens. Probably the band the greens are tied with when purchased. Overall the food is okay and a convenient location. They must do better as far as the rubber band in the greens. They have a lot of support from the community and I know they don't want to lose that. Hopefully it was a minor and rare mistake and nobody else has experienced this.

The whiting is very good especially with some hot sauce. The Mac and cheese could use some more love but it tastes good with the sweet potatoes. The greens were good as well. The service could surely use some tlc. The guy who took my phone order seemed very annoyed that I had questions about the meal and price etc. I figure the least a non black person in a strictly black business could do was show some courtesy. Nonetheless the food was decent and if where I would rather go was closed again, I would come back especially for the fish.

The food has great soul flavor. I love the Steak fish, catfish nuggets & the Whole wings the most. The potato salad is the best too

Great food, and the lady at the counter is always nice. Not completely traditional, but really good! Fried chicken, sweet potatoes, and collards are really good from. Aka chicken box with upgraded sides
