Very expensive; our party of 4 (2x super cheese w/fries, 2x regular cheese no fries, 2x cheese curds, 4x chocolate shake) came out to $115 with tip. The bun is very low quality (very airy, had no chew to it, not toasted, seemed like a supermarket bun). The burger was not charbroiled, not much seasoning, very little taste. The butter is the feature and it was only "ok". Fries were nothing special. Cheese curds were only "ok", nothing special. Not likely to return. The place was pretty busy, so I guess others like it. They only have counter/diner seating; I'd estimate only about 24 seats total.
Food was awesome as always. Highly recommend.
Good and an historic place...but plan to spend $25.00 (with tax & tip) on a single burger, onion rings, and a Coke! Pricey!!!!!
Make sure u read the menu fully... burgers r good, but come with Butter on top. Sw. Potato fries, & Milkshakes r excellent
When you hear 'butter burger', you most likely think of a popular, Wisconsin-based fast food chain. I have lived in Milwaukee all my life and had NO IDEA that Solly's Grille was the actual birthplace of the majestic butter burger. My fiancé and I came here for the first time yesterday to try the original butter burger. When you first walk in, you almost feel like you're transported back in time. The interior is very 70's-esque, but in the best way possible...almost like someone took the bottom level of their home and turned it into a diner. All of the employees here, from the hostesses to the wait staff and cooks, are some of the kindest people I've met at a restaurant in years. i feel like since COVID happened in 2020, good service is something that most places have lost sight of, but not here at Solly's. It truly feels like the entire crew is a family and they're welcoming you into their family. The food...OMG the burgers are WONDERFUL! I was a bit worried that the butter would be too much for me, but it melted so perfectly into the hot patty and bun and created one of the most unique burgers I've ever eaten. The fries and sassy sauce were great too. Piping hot and fresh! Long story short, if my arteries could hold up to it, I'd eat here all the time. My fiancé and I will definitely be back!
Went to Solly’s for the first time. We ordered the Glendale burger, onion rings and a grilled cheese sandwich. Everything was amazing. Kid-friendliness: Ordered a grilled cheese for my nine-year-old granddaughter, this is offered for kids. Just ask!
Malts are good. Fries are good. Burger not my style. Could only taste the butter no flavor in the meat. Service was good. No bicycle parking anywhere near the building.
