Consisting of crisp layers of filo pastry, chopped pistachios, and sweetened with honey, the origin of this dessert is a difficult one to pinpoint. Although most associated today with Greco-Turkish cuisine, some scholars believe the earliest roots of what is now called Baklava originated in ancient Persia, whilst others say the Roman Empire.
