Drove over an hour to try this place. Went in and checked out the menu. Restaurant was completely empty except for the workers sitting at a table. Was totally ignored. I even looked at them to try and get their attention. Not until I turned to leave did they acknowledge me. Too late. Disappointed.
The spicy peanut noodles was fantastic. And the dumplings were so delicious. Cant wait to go back. There is plenty more in their menu that I still want to try. And the service was great. Would recommend to anyone.
Dishes are all over the restaurant, disorganized, rude staff- was ignoring the DoorDash drivers on purpose.
The pork soup dumplings were so so compare to other Shanghai restaurants. It seems like there was food coloring added to it, and the dumpling itself is so thick compared to others as well. The salted fish fried rice is excellent just like Penang across the street!
I can tell that this is a family-owned business because the atmosphere is cozy and lacks all the expensive decor. And every time my family goes there it is being handled by one lady. This restaurant takes cash only and does not take credit cards - so be aware when you go to this restaurant. However, nothing beats the food. Everything tastes good and nothing is fake. The food is real authentic Taiwanese dish. The dumplings are huge but sometimes the taste is hit or miss. Regardless this is one of my family's favorite restaurant for a quick bite.
Shanghai Noodle House, is often a must stop when I am passing through NJ via Rt.1. They are not your typical Chinese restaurant with General Tao’s Chicken or Boneless spare ribs. Shanghai Noodle house is a more traditional style Chinese Food with dishes like Beef Noodle or appetizers like Jellyfish. If you are looking for something more authentic then try Shanghai Noodle House.
Used to have better food and service
