Perosnally I felt it is below average, not sure why it is over rated restaurant.
Visited SG Rao's Military Hotel recently with high hopes. Tried the Chicken Pulav, Mutton Pulav, and Chicken Udayagiri.
Starting with the Chicken and Mutton Pulav, both dishes were quite underwhelming. The flavors were too mild and lacked the robust spices I was expecting from a military hotel. The chicken and mutton were cooked well, but the overall taste was bland and didn't leave a lasting impression.
As for the Chicken Udayagiri, it didn't quite hit the mark either. The dish was missing the punch and depth of flavor that is typically characteristic of this recipe. It felt like something was off, maybe the spices or the preparation.
Overall, it was a decent experience but not something I would go out of my way to try again. A one-time try at best.
Hesitated twice to come here and I regret now that i was missing one of the great non-veg food in Bengaluru.
We ordered,
🍴 Mutton Pulav : It's less spicy, less oily Biriyani which was served piping hot with 5 succulent Mutton pieces in istree leaf.
Onion dry Raita, a slice of lemon and a small plate of sherva is served.
This is one of the best Mutton Biriyani I have ever tasted 👌.
It's priced a bit higher ₹290 as of May 2024
🍴 Pepper Chicken: Dry chicken item but very oily. Chicken was tender and good pieces and mildly spicy.
Priced at ₹140.as of May 2024.
Note :
🔹️Most tried plain pulav (₹100 - May' 2024) with side items like Kabab or Pepper Chicken.
🔹️Would love to come again and try all items especially during early morning for Paya (leg), Idly.
