Pupusas
Pupusas are a traditional Salvadorian dish made from a thick, handmade corn tortilla that is typically stuffed with a variety of fillings such as cheese, refried beans, and pork. The dough is made from masa de maíz (corn dough), and the filled tortillas are cooked on a griddle until they are golden brown and slightly crispy on the outside, while remaining soft and gooey on the inside. Pupusas are often served with curtido, a tangy cabbage slaw, and a tomato-based salsa. They are a beloved comfort food in El Salvador.
