Kauai Club Dancing Friday & Saturday 10pm-2am Dress Code/ Cover. And Swing Dancing Tuesday Nights 7:30-10 pm. Swing dancing and Jazz music grew up together. From the birth of Jazz in New Orleans during the 1890’s, through a booming stock market, followed by a crashing stock market and ensuing depression, Jazz music and Swing dancing were means by which Americans could feel good about themselves. In the mid 1930’s, Jazz music was being referred to as Swing, and the likes of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Artie Shaw, Glen Miller and Benny Goodman were some of the names belting out the music. The Savoy Ballroom in Harlem was Swing Dance Central. In the late 1930’s Count Basie’s Kansas City style Blues began to take off. During WWII and throughout our country’s history, Jazz and Swing dancing have influenced and been influenced by the styles of the times.
