I had the opportunity in either 2017 or 2018 I can't think of which year it was but the last year that the prairie home companion radio program did a live show. I was able to get tickets. They have a wonderful wide selection of seating options. You can either get actual benches or chairs in the lower half of the amphitheater or for a more affordable price you can do what I did and use the option of bringing your own lawn chairs. This allows you to still have good seats but not have to fight the crowds. I'm not sure if it's changed it's been a few years since I've been there you can park pretty close to the amphitheater you do have to walk a little bit. But it's very good exercise and it's flat most of the way. If you are going to a performance there I suggest allowing about a good half hour or so to walk from the parking area especially if you've got a large group. And also allow yourself enough time to get chairs or blankets whichever you have set up if you're using the seating option of just sitting on the grass.
Go to a live show at this amphitheater. No matter who is performing, it's such a fun experience. Outdoor venue with chair or lawn seating. You can bring in your own food and drinks (or purchase there), sit outside and enjoy the evening. Parking can be rough so arrive a bit earlier.
Beautiful gardens especially in the fall when all the leaves are changing into their beautiful warm colors.
