Port Royal in Jamaica was once known as the "wickedest city on earth". In the 17th Century, Port Royal was home to the real pirates of the Caribbean - it was a buccaneers' paradise. In June 1692, the glory days of Port Royal ended when a massive earthquake described by clergy as ‘God’s punishment’ struck the city sinking it into the sea.
