I’m not a tourist, I’m a New Yorker. We usually don’t go to Peter Luger because we believe this place is very expensive, but the food is not of the highest standards. I visited this establishment at the request of my out-of-town family members. They had never been there and really wanted to go and taste the food, even though I told them that you can get better steaks in the city. As expected, the meat wasn’t top quality. It was okay for an average dinner-style quality restaurant for $35-40, not double the price. It was chewy, a little dry, and kind of boring. If you pay $70 or more for your steak, you want the meat to melt in your mouth, be juicy, rich, and tender. On top of that, they offer only one steak (Porterhouse). Really? One steak and you cannot make it perfect!? Another thing is no credit cards. Why? With those high prices, you probably will survive with 2-3% credit card fees. If this is still too much, add that percentage to the final bill. Don’t ask customers to walk around the city with thousand dollars in their pockets (dinner for 5). The service was excellent. Professional with a touch of humor. And your thin-cut bacon is still excellent. My family, who have tried steaks in many restaurants, said the same. The quality and the price don’t match here.
Great food, but absolutely awful service! Everything was great until the waiter decided to check how much tips did we left, staying just next to us and counting cash! And then asked is it correct, because he wanted more tips. Insane
A legendary place that lived up to its reputation.
No puedo decir que la carne fuera mala, pero el precio me parecio desorbitado y el servicio no fue el mejor.
Excellent professional old-school services. The only thing we missed was the saw dust on the floor
라스베가스점이 더 맛있는듯. 살짝 실망. 이가격 주고 먹을정돈 아니라 별 두개
Legendary stake restaurant in New York. The front staff looks like a legend, too. I visited with Sakeman Blue. Bacon is great.
