Really good food and great service!
Great discovery. I was just walking by and saw a dessert place and decided to try it just for fun… turns out it was so good. The strawberry blossom ice-cream was so good. Also I tried the financier and it was indeed delicious. Really recommend it!!
The food was amazing. I have never had anything like it. It took a bit of time for the food to come but the wait was worth it. Kid-friendliness: I brought my 4yo and everyone was so kind to him.
Absolutely love this place. It has amazing desserts and I’d highly recommend. They are open late and have dine in or out options.
The macarons here are absolutely beautiful and a work of art. They are colourful with nice garnishes matching the flavour theme of each one. They are visually flawless. The macarons do look better than they taste though as I find the ratio of filling to macaron wafer is off with too much buttercream like filling such that most of what you taste is only the oilier, buttery side of things. I’ve had macarons with different fillings likes pastes and jams which are less overpoweringly rich.
We gave it a 5 star rating mainly for the warm and intelligent service. A loud shout out to Arlene for being so patient with us. You can’t see the inside of the cafe from the outside. Go past the front door and you’ll be greeted by a rustic decor. Coffee is decent, and the main highlight is the snow mountain (shaved ice) items. We tried the multigrain version - perfect if you’re looking for something not too sweet. The strawberry is loaded with ice cream and cake to boot. The milk flavor in the shaved ice is more intense than the other Korean shaved ice places, which was what won us over. The parking lot is not big enough for all the businesses there. We went to lunch at a restaurant a few doors away and the lot was full. This was on a Saturday. When lunch was over and we made our way to Passion8, the lot was only half full.
Been ages since we’ve had bingsoo at Passion8. They were packed on a Monday evening. Besides Korean shaved ice, they also offer cake slices and macarons. Shared a honey berry bingsoo ($14.95 single) and chocolate cookie dough cake ($7.25 slice). They still layer the shaved ice, texture is smooth. Cake wasn’t too sweet. 3.5 stars.
