This fabulous wine needs 1 hours to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle (So much better once it opens up, so be patient). The color is an intense ruby red with a delicate fruity fragrance, like cranberries and dark cherry. Also chocolate and licorice add to a good experience. This 2010 Sangiovese Riserva has firm and smooth tannins. The pleasant acidic aftertaste in this multi-layered great wine. Wine Enthusiast 90 points

2018 | Giovanni Rosso | Donna Margherita | Barbera D'Alba
Shows a slightly aged personality with toasted hazelnut, dried blackberry, dusty mineral and campfire ash. Barbera maintains bright primary fruit for a long time, but this wine (tasting four years after the harvest) is just beginning to show that added complexity of time, especially on the bouquet. In the mouth, however, Donna Margherita is surprising lively, bright and fresh.
94 Points Tasting Panel - Ripe and bright roses and cherries unite on the nose. White-peppered cranberries arrive on the first sip, with red tea and cinnamon surging forth on a lengthy flow. Juicy cherry and dried floral tones enter mid-palate, where they're lit up with gorgeous acidity and intriguing savory qualities---dried oranges plus an echo of new leather---that persist.
You can't go wrong with a classic wine like the 2013 Barbaresco Meruzzano. Louis Roederer | Brut | Premier
94 Points Decanter - 42% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 18% Meunier from 55% estate vineyards; 16% fermented and matured in oak casks; 30% malolactic. The rise and evolution of this cuvee over the past 15 years, and particularly since the construction of its dedicated facility in 2007, has showed no sign of slowing today, as Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon continues his fanatical regime of experimenting, tweaking and refining every detail. I've long adored Brut Premier, a grand pinnacle and dependable bargain in the non-vintage Champagne stakes.

Delamotte | Blanc De Blanc | Brut
93 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - The latest rendition of Delamotte's NV Brut Blanc de Blancs is drinking very well out of the gates, offering up aromas of crisp orchard fruit and citrus zest mingled with hints of fresh bread and wet stones. Armand De Brignac | Brut | Gold
95 Points Decanter - This is a three-way assemblage: three grape varieties -- and equal percentage of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with 20% of Pinot Meunier -- and a blend of 3 vintages, 2009, 2010 and 2012. The nose is full of flavours and rich with notes of white flowers and creme patissiere. However, the palate is crisp, fresh and delicate with a lovely creamy texture. It is elegant, refined and very stylish (unlike the bottle!). It's a pleasant combination of power and concentration blended with finesse and elegance. While the dosage is 9g/l, it feels much drier, more like a 5g/l and this probably due to the spinal cord of acidity.
$435.00
2012 | Louis Roederer | Cristal
97 Points Wine Advocate - Aromas of clear honey, crisp green orchard fruit, white peach, pastry cream and dried white flowers introduce the 2012 Cristal, a full-bodied, concentrated and powerful wine that's built for the cellar. Broader, more textural and more muscular than the 2008 Cristal, with seemingly even greater reserves of structuring dry extract, the 2012 is incisive and searingly chalky. This is the first Cristal produced exclusively from organically farmed fruit, and it marks the opening of a new chapter for Louis Roderer. The blend is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, vinified without malolactic fermentation and disgorged with 7.5 grams per liter dosage. Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon has once again excelled himself.
$550.00
2005 | Dom Perignon | Rose | Vintage
99 Points James Suckling - A mind-blowing wine. This is super subtle and intense with aromas of peaches, light strawberry and cream. Also shows rose petal and cooked peaches. Medium to full body, with ultra-fine tannins that feel like fine silk. The finish goes on for minutes. It floats across the palate. The winemaker says the closet vintage to this is the 1990, but I think this is better.
$595.00

J Vineyard L Brut L Rose L Russian River
Finding a place at the lighter end of the Rose spectrum and, in fact, a wine that could easily pass for a Blanc de Noirs, this lightly yeasty version fixes on energetic, slightly juicy, young fruit as its main motif. It is briskly balanced, but its ample acidity enlivens without ever once seeming sharp, and it is wholly free of the astringency that marks its more vinous mates.

A very good Sauvignon Blanc. Pale yellow color. Well structured. On the nose offers green apple and orange leaf. Mild acidity. Elegant and well balanced.
Scarpetta Pinot Grigio showcases some of the best sites in Friuli-Venezia Giulia for this aromatic varietal --- starting with the light, gravely soils of the Grave region. This gives it a crisp, clean minerality. Additionally, 30% of their Pinot Grigio is planted on Ponca soil in the Colli Orientali on steep hillsides. The combination of the Grave and Colli Orientali lets them produce a wine which has body, bright acidity, and great minerality.
97 Points James Suckling - Such beautiful aromas of sliced pears, green apples, white peaches and lychee fruit. Full-bodied and very reserved, but the complexity and beauty here are so apparent. Give this wine time to show the complexity and allure. One of the great whites of Italy, as always.

2017 I Pio Cesare
94 points Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThis is the wine to buy in commemoration of the 140th anniversary (1881-2021) of the historic house of Pio Cesare. The most traditional and classic of the wines in this important portfolio, the 2017 Barolo is packaged in a retro label that speaks to all the grandeur of this important Italian wine appellation. The wine imparts delicate and fine tones of wild fruit, cassis, tar, smoke and crushed rose. The wine is buttoned up and straitlaced, especially now in its youth.

2015 | Elio Grasso | Ginestra | Casa Mate
97 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - There is slightly more structure to the 2015 Barolo Ginestra Casa Mate than to the Gavarini Chiniera of the same vintage, and the only differences here are the soils and that this fruit is harvested about ten days later. It's a pretty fascinating demonstration of the power of the single vineyard. The Gavarini Chiniera parcel offers slightly sandier soils, whereas this site is composed of more clay. In rainy years, the Gavarini Chiniera vineyard drains more effectively, whereas the Ginestra's soil retains more moisture in the hot and dry vintages. As a result, in vintages such as this one, Ginestra shows a more compact nature and, in general, provides more impact and more structure. This is a very robust expression, extremely linear and tight. The Ginestra Casa Mate narrowly wins this round. It's another beautiful Barolo.
Critical Acclaim98 points Wine EnthusiastCamphor, underbrush, spice and brandy-soaked cherry are just some of the aromas you'll find in this gorgeous red. The full-bodied palate combines firmness with finesse, delivering raspberry compote, ripe Marasca cherry, licorice and tobacco flavors framed in assertive, fine-grained tannins. It's youthfully austere and needs time to fully develop but it's already impressive.

2016 | Casanova Di Neri
95 Points Decanter - The 2016 vintage was marked by significant day and nighttime temperature differences. Gianlorenzo Neri says this was particularly pronounced in Montalcino's northeast, where the vineyards for the estate's 'white label' are found. With beautiful focus off the bat, this grabs your attention immediately. Black raspberry and wild cherry give way to liquorice, wet stones and smoke. The fruit is velvety, but quickly hemmed in by powdery, grippy tannins which retreat a bit on the finish, likes waves, leaving rose and violets in their wake. Vibrant and racy.
$105.00
2016 | Argiano

2016 | Castello Banfi
94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino offers clean and pristine fruit and otherwise delivers a textbook interpretation of the vintage. Indeed, the Banfi library of wines acts as an institutional memory of modern Brunello. This edition shows sharp and focused fruit with leather, potting soil and balsam herb. For a straight-up classic Brunello, this wine delivers the goods.
$130.00
2015 | La Poderina
94 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - This is a nicely layered expression, with tart berry notes followed by toasted nut, garden soil and dusty mineral or limestone that add pretty contouring and framing to the dark fruit at the core. 2012 | La Gerla L Riserva L Gli Angeli
95 Points Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateHere is a dense and meaty Tusan red that flaunts its immediate power, structure and intensity. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva gli Angeli is robust and deep thanks to a generous offering of dark fruit, spice and tar-like aromas. 2018 | Giovanni Rosso | Donna Margherita | Barbera D'Alba
Shows a slightly aged personality with toasted hazelnut, dried blackberry, dusty mineral and campfire ash. 2018 | Felsina | Fontalloro
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - To my palate, the 2018 vintage sometimes feels a little too ripe or baked. I was reminded of those characteristics when tasting the Felsina 2018 Fontalloro. There is plenty of dark fruit at its core, but this wine also reveals dry tones of jarred oregano, grilled Mediterranean herb, crushed aspirin and graham cracker. The mouthfeel is pleasantly lean and silky, and perhaps the wine delivers more in terms of length than it does weight or texture. A little more bottle age should help flesh out and soften these results.

To gently extract the color and tannins during fermentation, the winemaker uses the Delestage technique, an intensive immersion of contact the juice with the skin of the grape. The color is a garnet red with violet reflections. 2015 | J.Lohr | Signature | Paso Robles
98 Points Tasting Panel - Further proof that Paso Robles has the ability to craft some of the world's finest Cabernet Sauvignons, this is the third vintage of this wine. It's a tribute to founder Jerry Lohr from esteemed blocks of Clone 337 in the high-elevation calcareous soils of the Beck Vineyard, located in the region's Creston District. Blended with 11% Malbec and aged for 18 months in French oak, it was then transferred to a new set of barrels for a flash of two months to accentuate its ageworthiness. Rich, ripe plum accents the aromas and leads to a seamless palate of dry, dusty tannins and Old World acidity. Coffee bean and dark chocolate intertwine with dark summer berries and spiced tobacco. It's a teeth gripper 'til the end.

2014 | Groth | Reserve | Oakville
Groth Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon embodies the essence of the most remarkable winegrowing region in the Napa Valley. Or maybe the world. It originates from our tiny Reserve Vineyard, in an appellation where nature's perfections---from soil to climate---coalesce, allowing us to produce the ultimate expression of Oakville. The 2014 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon shows the intrinsic black stone fruit nuances and the elegant tannin structure that define our Oakville, Napa Valley-floor Cabernet. All of the Cabernet Sauvignon is from our 27.78 acre Reserve Block here at the Estate. Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon clusters are night harvested, allowing the fruit to remain cool. The must is then cold soaked for up to five days. After fermentation is complete, barrel aging takes place in our dedicated, dual-level Reserve barrel rooms. The wine is racked barrel to barrel and aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak, followed by over a year of bottle-aging.

2017 | Stags' Leap | Fay Vineyard | Napa Valley
95 Points Wine & Spirits - As Stag's Leap Wine Cellars sets out to celebrate its 50th anniversary, this vintage of Fay cabernet may be the best wine I've tasted from that historic vineyard---the site and the wine that initially convinced Warren Winiarski to purchase the rocky hillside next to Nathan Fay's vineyard. The soils at Fay are alluvial, remnants of an ancient riverbed, unlike the rock that eroded off the Stags Leap Escarpment and collected at the base of the hill at S.L.V., Winiarski's original vineyard. In 2017, Fay is the elegant beauty. There's nothing pushy or potent about its complexity, just a waterfall of minerals and fruits that seems to continue long after each taste. It would be hard not to fall in love with this wine's svelte refinement. Open a bottle and let it lift your mood.

2013 | Louis M. Martini | LOT No1 | Napa
100 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - A perfect wine, that seems to have gone from one strength to another since I first tasted it, the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 1 is absolutely amazing wine. It was aged 21 months in 87% new French oak, finished at 15.3% alcohol and was another abundant vintage, as this lot produced 850 cases, which is even more than 2012 and slightly less than 2003 and 2014. The wine has an inky purple color, a gorgeous nose of graphite, blueberry liqueur intermixed with cassis, blackberry, espresso roast, chocolate and graphite. Dense and incredibly intense with good acidity (slightly lower pH than the 2012, reflected in the character of the wine), fabulous purity and a finish that goes on for close to 50+ seconds. This could well turn out to be the greatest wine ever made at the Louis Martini Winery and that is saying something. It has at least 30-50+ years of aging potential and is clearly a compelling effort from this historic and iconic winery in Napa.
