Tandoori (From the Clay Oven) Prep time 20Minutes
The tandoor, a cylindrical clay oven used for cooking with direct heat and smoke, is thought to have originated in the Indus Valley Civilization over 5,000 years ago. Archeologists have found evidence of tandoors at sites in India and Pakistan dating back to 2600 BC, around the same time as the pyramids. The word "tandoor" comes from the Persian word tanur, which comes from the Akkadian word tinuru, meaning "mud oven".
